Clinton misremembers.

When confronted by Anderson with her earlier claim that TPP sets the gold standard in trade agreements, Clinton suggested that what she had said was that she hoped it would set the gold standard. (I may not be quoting her exactly, but it was along those lines.) That would make her earlier claim easier to reconcile with her current opposition to TPP because sometimes what we hope for doesn't come about. Unfortunately for her, what she said was this:

“This TPP sets the gold standard in trade agreements to open free, transparent, fair trade, the kind of environment that has the rule of law and a level playing field."
