The Downside: Ryan Choice Is A Greenlight For GOP SuperPACs to Go All In

Last edited Sat Aug 11, 2012, 01:37 PM - Edit history (1)

Ryan represents the poster boy for a right wing, Ayn Rand type free market utopia where the principles of social darwinism hold sway. The only role of the government is get out of the way as the rich exploit the middle class and the poor in a survival of the fittest. Jonathan Swift's Modest Proposal becomes a virtual reality as benefits are cut to the poor and middle class to pay for billions in tax cuts to the very rich.

My take is that Romney was forced into choosing Ryan by his billionaire backers like the Koch brothers and $heldon Adelson to guarantee that Romney walks the right wing walk if he gets elected. Otherwise, choosing Ryan makes no sense, since his proposals are so polarizing. Romney's backers want to claim an unambiguous mandate to tear down all remaining elements of the new deal as well as roll back regulations designed to protect the public.

Therefore, with this choice, expect the GOP SuperPACs to engage in a shock and awe campaign to try to carpet bomb the voting public into submission such that the middle class and seniors vote to end their Medicare and Social Security so that the super rich like Romney can get even bigger tax cuts. Think of it as Romney's backers demanding insurance that they receive a return on their massive investment.
