Bernie Sanders Clearly Won Tuesday's Debate -- On Twitter

Despite quite a few pundits saying "Hillary won", it appears the American people think quite differently and say with a very clear cut answer that Bernie won. Sorry MSM, the American people are what makes up America.

Bernie Sanders cleaned up on the social media service, rapidly outpacing the other four candidates when it came to adding new followers.

Sanders gained 35,163 new followers during the 150-minute debate. Meanwhile, the other four Democrats gained a total of just 23,219 new followers — combined — led by Hillary Clinton, who added 13,252 new Twitter followers by herself.

So what does this all mean? Actually a heck of a lot.
Social media is the "new" news delivery system of today and user generated content is a legit form of journalism now & it has been for quite awhile. Everybody uses social media and it's a very legit form of polling and gets a real heartbeat of the nation. In fact, so much so, that facebook itself was the co-sponsor of last night debate.

It's a rather fascinating look at how America feels.

1. Strange how the people go for Bernie, and the media goes for Hillary.

Are we not supposed to notice that when they decide she won? And old saying comes to mind, "Don't piss in my ear and tell me it's raining" cause I can tell the difference.

4. Indeed. Why even bother to have focus groups, online polls, search & social media metrics?

The corporate media doesn't pay attention to their own results so indeed they must be worthless.

All that matters is what the pundits say......

DU is a form of social media.

Social media IS the new media. People don't watch regular TV programming very much. They stream what they want to see when they want to see it. They get their news from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and blogs. When they do read or watch the mainstream, they read the first three paragraphs (and that's only if the piece is well-written and interests them - if not - they only read the headline and the first paragraph) before they skip to the comments section to see what other readers think.

I was a newspaper reporter for 13 years, but have spent the last 13 years in public relations for tech firms. Trust me when I say that I know this is the case: I study this for a living.

So, seriously, it does matter.

10. It does matter

and it matters greatly. If you want to get a true pulse of how America feels, look to twitter. Tell John McCain who didn't know how to even send an email in 2007 that this doesn't matter. Social media, especially twitter, is where revolutions are fought (think Green Spring in the middle east) and where Presidential campaigns are fought.
The political landscape changed 2 elections ago. Drastically.

Go tell that to Mike Huckabee this morning that none of this matters lol

8. No. And no matter who you are you can't stop spambots from following

I can guarantee at least a 1/4 of both candidates numbers are spambots. That's the reality of twitter.

9. As many as 2 million of them, yes.

And Bernie Sanders has 2.2 million followers on Facebook for his senate account and another 1.7 million followers on his 2016 account.

On Twitter, he has 712,000 followers on his 2016 account and another 829,000 on his senate account.

The poster above didn't check their facts very well.

But here's the story on her social media purchase:
