I wrote a predictive debate results post yesterday, early.

It was supposed to be sort of funny, but now that the debate is over, I stand my my pre-debate results. It turned out pretty much as I predicted.

It was an interesting debate on many levels. The only two people really of interest were Hillary and Bernie. Hillary showed excellent poise and presented herself well. Bernie stuck to his normal campaign topics. I thought he stumbled a bit on the gun control thing and didn't do a terrific job on the "socialism" question, but recovered pretty well with his "damned emails" comment.

In my prediction post, I said that the debate would leave most people who had already chosen a candidate to support with unchanged preferences. I think that's true. But, those of us who have already decided make up a smaller proportion of Democratic voters than we'd like to think. We'll have to see what scientific polling results say about the rest of the voters. I expect Hillary to get a bump from this, both from her performance and from Biden supporters who shift over to Clinton.

Bernie may get a bump, too, but I think it will be smaller.

Chafee and Webb? They're done. Finished. Just ignore them.

O'Malley? He'll pick up a few polling points from his appearance, but not many. He's likable, but not compelling.

And then there's Joe Biden. I have never thought he would run, and Clinton's performance I think makes that even clearer. I expect an announcement that he won't be running in the next few days, just as my post yesterday predicted.

And there it is. On to the arguments on DU. They will continue apace, I'm sure.

That's what I thought, too, following the debate. Now, I'm waiting for some actual polls to see the numbers, post-debate.
