Pundits don't equal the American people!

Bernie Sanders handily won the first Democratic presidential debate, according to a post-debate poll conducted by Google Consumer Surveys for IJ.com.
The Vermont Independent was named the winner by 43.7% of respondents, followed by Hillary Clinton at 28.7% and Not Sure at 17%.
Martin OMalley, Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee trailed with single digit results.
Chafee, whose stumbles throughout the debate included blaming a regrettable vote on being a new senator, was judged the loser of the debate.
Then we move on to this article.

But a focus group of Democratic voters, conducted by Republican pollster Frank Luntz, could undermine the takeaway that Clinton won.
A majority of that focus group as well as of those conducted by CNN and Fusion said they were most impressed with Sanders.
In a brief Fox News segment, Luntz started off by asking the participants who was supporting Clinton at the start of the debate. About half raised their hands. He then asked who was still supporting Clinton only a few said they were.
Instead, the bulk of the group said Sanders won. And their favorite moment was the same back-and-forth that many pundits said delivered Clinton her biggest win: Sanders declaring that he was sick of hearing about her "damn" email controversy rather than skewering her for it.
Then we have this Op Ed

Sanders, though, had a better night. Much as Republican debates showcased Donald Trump, this debate showcased Sanders' authenticity. The notion of anyone asking if he would change positions to win votes is preposterous.
Sanders is the reason Democrats have a serious primary race. And he came across Tuesday night as a candidate who believes what he believes and won't waffle. He voiced positions that will give some Democrats pause; he isn't a pacifist, he said, and as commander in chief wouldn't hesitate to take America to war. Clinton, meanwhile, answered a challenge to her Senate vote for war in Iraq not with a defense or an apology, but by invoking President Barack Obama: Even after that vote, he chose her as secretary of state. Sorry, but it sounded lame.

(5,761 posts)You all refuse to believe that the American people choose Sanders as the winner. We get it. And we're laughing at you.

(12,655 posts)it was people who have joined the focus group as Democrats and sharing their opinions about the debate. You don't trust them either? But yes, let's all trust the talking heads who work for the corporate one percenters.
DCBob
(24,689 posts)Is that more clear?

(12,655 posts)it was a video recorded focus group composed of Democratic voters. They are on video tape talking about how initially they came in supporting Clinton and then switch to Sanders. Unless of course you think the tape is doctored, you are free to believe that.

(8,445 posts)when polling (or any type of information) is coming from one of them.
But the poll agrees with the overall trend where more exposure for Bernie translates into more support for him.
