Up until recently, Sanders never had much of a need to 'sell himself' to an audience.

Those young men and women had no reason to give anything but their unvarnished opinions based on the rules of debate.

I am sure that makes them credible enough for you.

/sigh

That said Hillary did have a good performance last night. A very very good performance. But that's about all it was.

I have to agree with Will Pitt on this, Hillary Clinton is a consumate bullshit artist.

Money quote:

Will you expand social security?

Hillary: I will enhance it...

And that was house the night mostly went. A bunch of polished and rehearsed non answers that you cant really pin down what she actually means or what she truly believes in.

Now she did have a couple of oh wow moments where I really like what she was saying but a lot of it was gloss and no substance.

I can see why certain elements liked her debate style though.

It is my dispassionate observation that all our candidates acquitted themselves with aplomb and provided a vivid contrast with their Republican opponents. If you demur from that assessment there is nothing I can do to disabuse you of that notion.

Those are all things that trained debaters notice. But it might be that for this election people don't care about debate technique.
