2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe "6 minutes of pain" vid is all over FB...is there a link to Obama's response?
We need to whack it down like "whack a mole" out there.
On edit, here is what is going around...I *hate* giving them the satisfaction of clicking on the link, but...

(10,291 posts)I would like it without Cenk's commentary. Really.

(16,988 posts)A lot of it's just plain cognitive distortions (we have NO idea, blah, blah, blah), some of it's name calling/labeling ("smoke and mirrors," "Ponzi scheme," "raids," "cynical" , some of it's flattery (i.e., attempt at charm offensive).
The CLASS Act is no longer operative. The HHS decided it wasn't doable.

He speaks rapidly and keeps focus on the dire -- never mind that he wants to slash SNAP and Medicaid while cutting taxes for the top earners -- and makes numerous accusations.
He's also a huge phoney, invoking families, boo-hooing over their plight, when he has no intention of leveling the playing field for the haves and the have-nots
But he's right; there's a difference between us. He's hastening to increase the income of the top 2 percent while squeezing and squeezing and squeezing the states, seniors, children, et al.
Of course the video cuts off before Obama responds. That's Ryan-serving editing.
This is a warning, though, for the debates. It shows Ryan's a fast talker and will cite specific figures. That doesn't mean he isn't an empty suit, but the media LOVES this crap, and possibly viewers will be swayed by it.

(8,543 posts)I liked how Rep. Xavier Becerra knocks down Ryan's dismissal of the CBO numbers starting at the 22 minute mark.

(6,440 posts)All I can say is that it could save healthcare costs by providing a drug-free alternative to sleeping pills. Yes, it gives Freepers boners because the President looks slightly annoyed at one point (see the rage of the angry, scary black man!) but I can't see undecided voters staying awake long enough to be swayed by it.

(19,458 posts)And people got upset, because there has been a pattern every election season, where some people seem to only come here to post "look what I found!" And "have you heard this?" Stuff. So, I jumped in to explain to you why people on DU get a bit ansty when someone seems to post a lot of the republican rumors and attacks, specifically, for everyone to see. Balance is your friend...
