2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSurvey USA: Ryan pick might help Romney in Florida???
Well this is interesting:
17% of registered voters in the state of Florida say they will change who they will vote for in the election for President as a result of Mitt Romneys selection of Paul Ryan as Vice President, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted statewide for WFLA-TV in Tampa.
Of those who will change their vote, 57% say they are more likely to vote for Romney, 42% say they are less likely to vote for Romney. The state of Florida is one of the most important swing-states in the country. Floridas 29 electoral votes are critical to Romney.
Reaction to the Ryan pick breaks along party lines. 82% of Republicans, 91% of Tea Party members, and 86% of conservatives say the selection of Ryan is excellent or good. 57% of Democrats and 51% of liberals say the Ryan selection is bad or very bad.
75% of Republicans say Ryan would be ready to step-in as President if Romney were unable to serve, compared to 28% of Democrats who say Ryan would be ready.
Cell-phone and home-phone respondents included in this research: SurveyUSA interviewed 640 adults from the state of Florida 08/13/12. Of the adults, 590 were registered to vote. This research was conducted using blended sample, mixed mode. Respondents reachable on a home telephone (70% of registered voters) were interviewed on their home telephone in the recorded voice of a professional announcer. Respondents not reachable on a home telephone (30% of likely voters) were shown a questionnaire on their smartphone, laptop or other electronic device.

I'd really like to see the demos on this poll.

(398 posts)Instead of doing this type of indirect poll that may or may not be reflected on an actual election preference poll? What a waste of time and money.

(19,458 posts)Survey USA has never been a serious poll. They started out by having people respond online, and from what I remember from last time, they're worthless.
Not trying to be snarky, but I so tire of the threads posting every bad poll. We're not worried. We're focused. Obviously you've been here a while, but it might be good to read that "concern troll" thread going on in here. Of course you're not a troll, but some DUers get a rep for posting only negative things like this, all innocent-like.

(33,497 posts)and frankly I wouldn't know you from a hole in the ground but I'm flattered you seem to think you know me based on this thread and another that you apparently take some issue with, so instead of putting me on ignore or not opening the thread you decide to write some stupid ass shit you know nothing about. You know, some DUers get a rep for posting dumb ass comments they know nothing about, all innocent-like. Here is a sampling of my posts for the past couple of days which apparently you missed:

I'm guessing most of the 17% are Republicans who weren't that enthused about Romney. We're going to have to wait for more polls over the next few days to see how this shakes out. And even then, we're just getting started, still got conventions and debates. Hang in there.

(398 posts)find me an expert who says SurveyUSA has never been a serious poll. What do you mean they "started out by having people respond online"? Explain. Why do you attack a member who posts both polls that have Obama ahead and polls that have him down? Did you see his archive?

(11,617 posts)This will come down to how good of a job Obama does in educating voters.

(33,497 posts)so, we can expect that again this time, but then the campaign will really begin.

(20,450 posts)working initially. I think that'll change a week after the convention.
Make no mistake: Robme will get a slight boost from Ryan post-convention, but we'll see if that bounce holds.

(6,342 posts)This state 2 years ago elected Rick Scott for governor who was fined billions for medicare fraud! They also elected Rubio. So no it would not shock me at all that it could go Romney.
I dont think you can ever count on Florida as being in the bag...especially this far out. I've lived here 30 years, and I cant count how many times this state does things politically that make no sense.
