What about "Bernie/O'Malley" for 2016!" Throwing this Out Here!

Martin O'Malley is an Organized Person/Candidate...The Platform he has put out for His Policy is Great for Dems...but, he hasn't caught on because he seems to be a "little bit out there" and is still Young.

BUT! What a Combination! O'Malley's Policy Details to Move Forward compared with Sanders Great Communication Skills! As a TEAM they Compensate for Each Others Weaknesses and TOGETHER....what could be BETTER?

WHY NOT!

What about O'Malley and Sanders joining together..(because Both seem to Be "Forward Thinking Dems&quot who understand what the Dem Party "Used to be About."

Could this work?

"Lefty libertarian" label a lot. In another post you said there were only a dozen or so real U.S. liberal posters on this whole board, and the rest you labeled as, "lefty libertarians". Why do you even bother to post if that's what you think?

Bernie and O'Malley joining together in Coordination could be a Powerful Voice for those of us on the Progressive Left to work together to WIN!

Bernie's Voice and Bombast and O'Malley's Detailed Policy Wonk support about How We Dems can move forward..... A Great Team..!

And...the MSM would love to report it! How boring to have "Hillary vs. The Clown Car" being all the MSM have to report for "Excitement and Eyeballs for another Year!

Really, really good for the American people. It could work very well.

The only thing...pardon me for being a 'wonk,' is that usually a candidate from the east coast will try and choose a mid-westerner to bring in votes in key states like OH, MI and IL.

We've seen winning tickets of Clinton-Gore, from adjoining Southern states, and Bush-Cheney, from the same Southern state. (Cheney, a Texas resident, had at least previously represented Wyoming, and fraudulently re-established his legal residence there. Still, I don't think Bush picked him to help deliver the Rocky Mountain states.)

Years ago, I read an observation about the effect of television: "A candidate is not a man from a place, but a man with a face." Today there are more women candidates but, with the internet, the underlying point about the diminished importance of geography is even more true.

I still like the idea of Barbara Lee as a VP.

(Edit to add - And no, not simply as 'identity politics'. I think she'd bring a seriously different worldview to the table, with a life story that differs radically from Bernie's.)

Here's the problem.....

Given Bernie's Age she might be not considered young enough as an up and comer for moving forward in VP Position. Since Hillary is expected to pick one of the young Castro Brothers for VP...we have to think about this.

----------

Barbara Jean Lee (born July 16, 1946) is the U.S. Representative for California's 13th congressional district, serving East Bay voters from 1998 to 2013 during a time when the region was designated California's 9th congressional district. She is a member of the Democratic Party. She was the first woman to represent the 9th district and is also the first woman to represent the 13th district. Lee was the Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and was the Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Lee is notable as the only member of either house of Congress to vote against the authorization of use of force following the September 11, 2001 attacks.[1] This made her a hero among many in the anti-war movement.[2] Lee has been a vocal critic of the war in Iraq and supports legislation creating a Department of Peace.

Our other good Senators would be wasted in the VP slot, when we really need them in the Senate. And if Bernie opens the American people up to the notions of 'socialism' (at least in his low key version), maybe we could even see Kshama Sawant try and move up to the House of Reps or even shoot for a Senate seat, and on down the road maybe even a WH run, and more people around the country running as socialists or Democratic socialists.

Why Not?

But, first we Progressives need to Counter Hillary and Third Way/NeoLibs with a Great Team that is Running! O'Malley is not a US House Rep or Senator.

He's Open and despite his record in Baltimore...he has some good policy prescriptions and is still young enough to be influenced to move forward more progressively to Populism and see how he made mistakes in Baltimore.

Some of us are politics junkies, so we like political speculation, even pointless political speculation.

In that vein: Could we win with a ticket of a Jew and a Catholic? Every winning ticket in American history has had at least one Protestant, and I think all but two (Kennedy-Johnson and Obama-Biden) have had two Protestants. It's not as if we'd be running an atheist/agnostic or a Muslim (the most obvious targets of religious bigotry), but I suspect it would still be a factor.
