Got to give Akin some credit here -- at least
he has a reason why he opposes abortion even in the case of rape, as insane as the reason is. (Interesting that he's on the House Science and Tech committee.)
But what about all the OTHER Rethugs who support their party's official platform calling for a Constitutional ban on abortion, even in the cases of rape and incest? What excuse do they have? They can't even point to abject ignorance.
They just think, deep down inside, that any man who can overcome a woman should be able to force her to bear his child; that, as Hucklebee says, forcible rape is a kind of gift.
