2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBullshit: Romney ahead in Michigan poll of "most likely voters"
Look at this new poll. http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/link/581519/presidential-and-senate-poll-for-the-general-election
In Realclearpolitics it's listed as likely voter, but the sample is "most likely voters".
In other words, this Fox commissioned poll is a fraud. Excerpt:
"The population surveyed consisted of a sample of traditional Michigan high participation
registered voters and voters that fit Michigan General Election voting patterns. The majority
of these voters have participated in a significant majority of the available primary and general
election and odd year municipal and county elections in Michigan since their registration.
Additionally, our call file does allow for random moderate and low participation voters to be
included in the sample. Our call file was randomized to allow for the maximum range of
participation and randomization"

In fact, a poll we discussed here (Mitchell Research) conducted AFTER this August 13th poll has Obama up by 5%.

(4,551 posts)I'm going to discount the MICHIGAN poll for 2 reasons, even though it's supposedly by a Democratic-leaning firm:
1. All other recent Michigan polling has shown Obama ahead, including from Republican-leaning pollsters
2. This pollster (Baydoun/Foster) even has Hoekstra (R) ahead of Stabenow (D) in the Senate race despite the fact that no other pollster all year has shown him ahead of her:
