Will the Akin scandal increase Obama's chances of winning Missouri?

What do you think? It obviously increases McCaskill's chances of winning the Senate seat, but could that spill over into the Presidential vote in the state as well?

Likely not enough to tip the state to him.

Voters today are still quite capable of compartmentalizing and ticket splitting.

If he couldn't do it in 2008 it's hard to see him winning it this year. I would love to be wrong, however.

Possibly. I don't want to bear false hope though. It would have to be a major campaign I think. Call it Shut it down or something. With the theme of shutting down Republicans tendency to enact harsh legislation against women.

Akin has been the gift that keeps on giving. There are more of us in STL City, StL County, Boone County, Jackson, Clay, Platte County then there are stiffs in the flyover country of Missouri.

Missouri is safe for Obama and Claire.

A pro-science stem cell initiative in '06 helped Claire McCaskill become our Senator. Missouri will be close. I can't understand why Obama would want to cede Missouri to Rmoney. If we get out the vote in STL and KC, it is possible!

I don't know. Out here in the "should be Arkansas" part of Missouri they love anyone but President Obama.

The UAW folks don't support out here. The farms, facing some severe droughts, are more concerned with governing their neighbor.

The light is shinging brightly on that platform. The voting one way or the other will depend on if the constituency agrees with that platform or not.

Missouri is pretty much the epitome of "working white-class voter" land. It'll probably just end up going the way of West Virginia and Arkansas, states that now vote GOP at the Presidential level, but occasionally vote in Dems for other offices.

Obama doesn't need to fight for it, so he won't be spending any $ there. No point in wasting $ there to narrowly lose again and taking the $ from more important states than can be won easier. Obama isn't putting much effort into Indiana either
