It's clear that you can be banned at any time for expressing reluctance to vote for the democratic nominee. Please don't ask for this information or try to compel me to state my intention. It's nobody's business and I won't provide an answer. Thank you.

Do you think you're that important?

Suggesting this DUer has no principles because he chooses not to announce his voting intention in the face of the purging of long-time DUers is OTT.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Wed Nov 4, 2015, 07:08 PM, and the Jury voted 2-5 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Gimme a break
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Doesn't need to be hidden. leaving.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Not over the top. Stop with stupid alerts
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Yeah, the 'before principles' part makes this into a personal attack.

(95,337 posts)This is the 4th presidential election and the policy has not changed once. This site was founded by Democrats for Democrats. I doubt the owners care about it. You can always do a 'Walt Starr' and finish it now.
Because if you can even find one reason out there why any other potential Democratic Nominee would be a worse choice as President over the likes of someone like Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Mark Rubio, Rand Paul or the host of other idiots running as Republicans - then you are a fool.
I love a good primary. People assumed Hillary was going to win in 2008. I forget, how did that end up with that race
MohRokTah
(15,429 posts)I don't give a shit who gets nominated, they have my vote.
A pile of dog shit could be nominated and it would still smell better than any Republican nominee ever could.
LynneSin
(95,337 posts)I need to eventually update my sig-line. I was on team Biden but that ain't happening. I'm from Delaware and we have a late primary. So at this point it doesn't matter who I support in the primaries because by the time mine comes about here in Delaware the choice will be either pretty clear or down to 2 candidates I'd be happy to have as my President.
I'll probably still write Biden's name in for the Primaries. It'll be the last time I'll get to vote for a Biden for awhile

(10,056 posts)LynneSin
(95,337 posts)and when the primaries are done it has always been expressed by the owners that this site is for people who support the Democrats. This will be my 4th Presidential Election posting here at DU, it hasn't changed.
I am all for a great primary but in the end this site is called DEMOCRATIC Underground and it was founded by democrats. Not sure what people are still surprised after all this time about this site's policy about supporting Non-Democrats in general elections.
And yes exceptions have been made when there have been no Democrats actually running in the race. The Democratic Party has always been supportive of Bernie Sanders up in Vermont and made it a point to not field any opponents against him when he ran as an Independent. Having no Democrat in the race, there was not an issue for people supporting Sanders as he ran for both the House and US Senate. He would side with the Dems so it is all good. And as a presidential candidate he is running as a Democrat.
SoapBox
(18,791 posts)'Cause the party has had it's share of rotten apples?
We are to vote for all Democrats regardless and period?
What I've said earlier today...that's some scary stuff.
LynneSin
(95,337 posts)But in the end this site has always had the policy of supporting the Democrats in general elections. Post whatever crap you'd like to say about those other democrats running for President, but there isn't one thing you can tell me that says that candidate, IF they win the nomination, would be a worse choice than any a Republican. Because there are too many rights and lives at stake if we allow the GOP to win the White House. Your 'teach the deems a valuable lesson' by going third party means I might lose might right as a woman to choose for my body. It means that millions of people will lose their right to healthcare (just watch what happens in Kentucky). It means that Christian bigots will get stronger support on our Supreme Court and rights that many people have just finally achieved could be taken away.
If I wanted the perfect Democrat who supports my ideologies100% I would have to run for office myself. Every democrat I have voted for has always been 'imperfect' compared to my beliefs. But those Democrats are still a far cry better than any republican.
tularetom
(23,664 posts)If you call yourself a Democrat, does that make you one? If you call yourself a Democrat and espouse non democratic policies, are you still a Democrat?
Or alternatively, suppose you are nominally an independent, but you strongly support Democratic principles and policies, can you then truly call yourself a Democrat?
The Dems have always been the big tent party, so I suppose an argument could be made that the party embraces a wide range of ideas, and welcomes voters on all points of the political spectrum. But are there limits to how corporate, or how populist, one can be and still call themselves a Democrat? If so, what are the limits?
LynneSin
(95,337 posts)The voters do in the primaries. Enjoy them.

(6,409 posts)We are allowed to say we're not happy about a particular candidate, will be suicidal if we have to vote for him, don't like her positions, think he is not a real Democrat, try to persuade everybody to vote for someone else in the primary, etc. The trouble starts when somebody says, "I will not vote for this candidate if the Democratic Party nominates her, and you shouldn't either." I think the admins might let you get away with saying, "I will stay home on election day," but there's no way they can allow, "You should stay home, too."
Andy823
(11,495 posts)Keep your vote to yourself. Those that have been saying over and over they "WILL NOT" vote for the nominee, unless it's candidate X, and who keep saying it makes no difference because both parties are the same, seem to have a different agenda than getting democrats elected.
Those are the ones that may have a problem, not those who keep it to themselves.

(45,984 posts)Up to now I haven't said that I won't vote for Mrs. Clinton; nor have I said that I will. I'll keep my final decision to myself.
Who wins this elections is less important than what we do afterwards. America has become an oligarchy, and oligarchies never end well for either the oligarchs or those they oppress. We will have to take matters into our own hands to wrest power from the oligarchs and restore democratic government. Who is elected will make no difference in that respect.
The word aristocracy means government by the best. Isn't that a hoot? Slave owners and serf drivers were never the best humanity had to offer and, by definition, were unfit to rule other men. I expect no more of industrialists and financiers who have rigged the system in there favor. We've seen what they have to offer us: a capitalist system without a middle class; a polluted world that never gets cleaned up. Nothing can make that a vision of a sustainable society. If the oligarchs who run a corporation want to do the right thing, they are helpless. To do so would put their corporation at a competitive disadvantage. That is the one thing they cannot do, that they can never do.
What is the one thing we cannot do? We cannot allow them to destroy life on this planet. We know that the many oligarchs have known for decades that climate change is not a hoax. For them to continue to drill for oil and mine for coal without taking into consideration what they doing to not just to our way of life but to life itself is an unimaginable, unspeakable crime against humanity.
It doesn't matter if the name for this system is neoliberalism, supply-side economics, trickle-down or Reaganomics. It must be put out of its misery before it fosters more misery to working people of the world, to all that live on the earth, drink its water and breath its air.
You and I, not the candidates of our choice, are the man on the white horse.
Power to the people.
