Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton experienced another campaign highlight by delivering a strong, intelligent, and presidential performance at the South Carolina Democratic forum.
Rachel Maddow asked Clinton what she would say to African-American voters who are wondering if their opportunity for meaningful change had passed. Clinton discussed her record and said that President Obama doesnt get the credit for the great job that he has done. Clinton said that wanted to build on Obamas success and go further. Hillary Clinton said, I want to be the president for the struggling, the striving, and the successful.
..........................
............................
Hillary Clinton looked and sounded like a president during the forum. Her wide range of experience showed as she addressed questions from a federal, state, and even local perspective.
Clinton delivered a strong performance. She was able to speak passionately about issues from criminal justice to the violence in our society. There is no candidate on the Republican side that is as talented as Hillary Clinton. With each national appearance, Clinton is getting stronger.
She is showing exactly why Republicans are so afraid to face her next November. The Republican who will face Clinton next fall is going to begin at a major disadvantage. The difference between 2008 Hillary Clinton and 2016 Hillary Clinton is night and day.

(8,200 posts)They are were well informed and could address the issues with constructive ideas for the well being of the nation. Contrast this to the crap that the Republican candidates spew that borders on the ridiculous. I can only hope that the average working class citizen wakes up and stops voting against their own interest.

(23,946 posts)She has changed, become more liberal and she seems to feel quite comfortable moving politically to the left...Clinton is a progression and extension and continuation of the remarkable work in remarkable and difficult times of Obama, who still has a yesr to go to help the change along....folks are so fukcing impatient for change...it is coming....patience.

(47,803 posts)Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) shined at the South Carolina Democratic forum where he sat down with Rachel Maddow and delivered a stinging criticism of the media.....
...Unlike Martin OMalley, who came before him at this event, Sanders is not dodging the questions. Sen. Sanders called out the media for begging him to attack Hillary Clinton. Sanders said that unlike Republicans who attack each other in stupid and destructive ways, he and Clinton are having a substantive debate.
......The South Carolina Democratic forum is one of the best events of the year, and Bernie Sanders is shining in this format.

(3,845 posts)And I see at least a chance of Bernie bucking the system, pushing back on it, when he's in a better position to do so. With Hillary I don't see that being a possibility.

(3,845 posts)Hillary didn't get to cast a public vote at that time, of course, being First Lady and adviser to the President.
What's the count for those times when they both had the opportunity to cast a public vote?

(3,845 posts)I'm definitely to the left of Bernie on the questions of war. But it's very clear to me based on all the available information that Bernie is to the left of Hillary on this and probably everything else. He's closer to my position than she is. (I discount, of course, Hillary's sliding to the left during primary season as I think any reasonable person would.)

I'm in favor of reasonable regulations too. Details need to be worked out but I think Bernie's got it about right in the proposals I hear him making.

(3,845 posts)Third, the United States is now involved in a very difficult war against international terrorism as we learned tragically on September 11. We are opposed by Osama bin Laden and religious fanatics who are prepared to engage in a kind of warfare that we have never experienced before. I agree with Brent Scowcroft, Republican former National Security Advisor for President George Bush, Sr., who stated, ``An attack on Iraq at this time would seriously jeopardize, if not destroy, the global counterterrorist campaign we have undertaken.''
Fourth, at a time when this country has a $6 trillion national debt and a growing deficit, we should be clear that a war and a long-term American occupation ofIraq could be extremely expensive.
Fifth, I am concerned about the problems of so-called unintended consequences. Who will govern Iraq when Saddam Hussein is removed and what role will the U.S. play in ensuing a civil war that could develop in that country? Will moderate governments in the region who have large Islamic fundamentalist populations be overthrown and replaced by extremists? Will the bloody conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Authority be exacerbated? And these are just a few of the questions that remain unanswered.

She has been in a position to be in on big decision making. She has issues important to Americans.

(4,213 posts)She speaks in such generalities. What a canned response with lovely alliteration.
And I think the successful will definitely welcome her presidency.
Actually, I prefer a President who challenges the successful to make America a better place for the struggling and the striving.
I just don't see how so many are buffaloed by this kind of non-specific general doublespeak.
