2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary didn't look Presidential, she was Presidential.
I'm sorry, but Bernie has got to lower the volume a little bit and mix things up a little. I could almost recite his answers.
O'Malley, imo, seems like he is formulating responses in a politically calculated way. I don't know if it is his actual demeanor.
But all in all, they all were/did good.

(19,877 posts)She seems to be speaking as if she's already in the GE while the rest are still lobbing attacks on each other. She didn't even mention them (BS and MO'M), but she did attack Republicans.
Fred Sanders
(23,946 posts)appearances have not been paying attention much to the attention span of the American voter....when they can be bothered enough to actually make the effort to vote.
Clinton is campaigning in a world of reality, not in a world of fantasy in which alien world tea party folk who vote for Trump and Carson and Cruz will suddenly vote for not evangelical at all Sanders in droves....because....reasons.

(45,105 posts)seems more like something a parent or Grandparent would say. Whereas a person who looked presidential should know those bad behavior threats are not solutions to problems the people in our country face. Those bad behavior threats are what Mom's and Grandmas and Nanny's tell kids who misbehave.

(850 posts)And I have NO IDEA WHY. because wagging her finger at then did ABSOLUTELY nothing to stop/help ease the crash. If this is the type of behavior the American people can expect from her, then count me out.

On edit, O'Malley is finding his way through this campaign--I still say he's going to surprise a lot of people with a much stronger showing as time goes on

(51,571 posts)Bernie's answers re his 5 votes against the Brady Bill and for guns on trains were a total fail. No, guns on trains is not the same as guns on planes in checked baggage. Checked baggage is accessible by passengers during a train ride, unlike a plane ride, as Rachel pointed out. He just ignored what she said and repeated his "we can't keep shouting at each other on guns" line out of the blue. And he said it wasn't 5 votes against Brady Bill, just 1, since they kept bringing the "same bill back up." The audience laughed at him.

(9,822 posts)body language tuned up, but that she WAS Presidential only in that she did not answer several of the questions.
We need a President who talks straight about these most difficult issues. That's only a starting point, but we really need that.

(1,681 posts)or on volume of speaking, or on any of the other numerous superficial reasons that have no real consequence when trying to run the country. Substance is what matters, and unfortunately that is Hillary's biggest weakness.
