Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) accused Hillary Clinton on Friday of lacking substance when she criticizes what he called the countrys corrupt campaign finance system during a Democratic presidential candidate forum.
I dont think its good enough just to talk the talk on campaign finance reform, Sanders told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow. Youve gotta walk the walk. I am the only Democratic candidate who does not have a super PAC. I am not asking millionaires and billionaires for large campaign contributions.
Maddow brought up Sanders recent interview with the Boston Globe editorial board, during which he stated that he disagreed with the former secretary of state on virtually everything.
Virtually is the key word there, he said.

(17,796 posts)But keep telling yourself that, at least if she wins the nomination you have us to blame for her losing the general. That's got to be some comfort.
Have a great day.

(17,796 posts)but nice spin work. The point is simple, is there any candidate we could run, short of a third Obama term, that would get the republican base more fired up then Hillary? And if that's the case, would she at least get our base to turn out in order to balance her weakness?
Don't worry I know your answers, I don't believe them, but I do know them. Hope you're enjoying the day.

You have a good day too, and make sure to vote for the Democratic nominee next November. We're all on the same team!

(1,782 posts). . . that by "democratic socialist" Bernie does not mean "communist dictator." There are enough good examples of democratic socialist countries with happy populations so that one does not have to look very hard to see it.

(17,796 posts)that it's senseless to work toward the improvements we need? That we have to settle for the status quo that has served us oh so well these last 30 years?
To which you'll say, 'but I never say that'. Etc, etc, etc...
I noticed that you haven't denied the cold pleasure of a ready scapegoat for next fall, always glad to fill a purpose in the greater, corporate, scheme of things.
So yeah, we're in the same boat, but I'm not sure we're paddling in the same direction.
OK, my blood sugar level is way to low, time to fix that. Wonder if I've got any candy left?
DanTex
(20,709 posts)That's why I support Hillary. And Obama. Look at everything that's been accomplished since 2008.
And as long as you vote for the Democratic candidate next November, we are paddling in the same direction. Glad to have you on board.

(20,709 posts)He used to be an actual socialist of the means-of-production-nationalizing variety, and now he's (claiming to be) a Scandinavian style social democrat who believes in a regulated free market.
Regardless, when it comes to Citizens United, there's no difference between the two, and there's no reason to believe that either of them will appoint pro-CU supreme court justices. All justices appointed by Democrats voted against it.
Doctor_J
(36,392 posts)She will nominate a corporatist like herself, claiming that an actual Democratic choice would not get past the Senate (even if there are sixty democrats), and you and the rest of the fan club will jump on board and tell us how we can't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. As for your ridiculous characterization of Sanders, he's been a democratic socialist for decades. Hillary has been for gay rights for two years, anti TPP for two months, and is still pro war. I honestly can't understand why any of you believe a word she says.
DanTex
(20,709 posts)She's playing by the rules as written, but she's made it clear that she thinks they need to change. And in this case, self-interest would also compel her to appoint anti-CU justices, because CU helps Republicans a lot more than it does Democrats.
Some people hate Hillary with such a passion that they can't think clearly about anything related to her. I'm not sure why, but we see it here on DU everyday. And thinking Hillary wants to keep CU requires not just Hillary-hate, but also total cluelessness.

(930 posts)Hillary is little different from the neo-con Bush wing of the republican party. Her past voting record and campaign sources make that abundantly clear.

(930 posts)will have a lot more coin with Hillary than empty campaign pledges...most of which are contrary to her voting record. After 8 years of broken pledges from Obama I'd think one would be leery of campaign promises. Especially when they sound too good to be true.

this is an issue we have to solve and soon. otherwise, we will lose our already limited power to the corrupt billionaires.
this is one reason i hope trump does win the r nom. because in the event he becomes president, he will try and solve this issue. none of the other car washers on that side will even try.
