Former Senator Arlen Specter Hospitalized With 'Serious' Condition (story developing)

Former Sen. Arlen Specter has been hospitalized with a "serious illness," friends and family of the Pennsylvania lawmaker confirmed to the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News on Monday.

According to the Inquirer's Dan Gross, sources declined to comment on the nature of the 82-year-old's condition.

In 2005, Specter was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. The cancer returned in 2008, but was detected early. Specter returned to the Senate shortly after the cancer went into remission.

By contrast with what passes for Republicans now, he almost looked reasonable.

I can't agree with the blanket statement that Specter is a 'good man'.

Yes he crossed the floor and helped passed Heath Care, but as he admitted, one of the reasons he did that was political expediency.

And let's not forget he was a Republican for 30 years before he switched, or the way he treated Anita Hill before the Judiciary Committee.

Most infamous of all, he is one of the people who came up with the "Magic Bullet" theory of the JFK Assassination. He pinned the crime on an innocent man and helped cover up the true perpetrators in the military-industrial complex.
