A fine, fine lady, that Diana DeGette.

I also see Gov. Hickenlooper as one of the speakers - good. Maybe Obama can lend him the beer recipe so Wynkoop Brewery (which Hickenlooper owns) can make massive quantities of White House beer for the victory party.

Also see Jared Polis - perfect! First openly gay Congressman ever elected to a Congress seat (I know - Barney Frank came OUT after he was elected)

But I see one other Coloradan scheduled to speak (and wish he wasn't speaking) - Ken Salazar - our former Senator, whose seat Bennet took over (and I still want him out). He is currently the Secretary of Interior.

That's the worst idea I've heard in a long time. I assume you mean Mark Penn? Why on earth would Obama want Penn anywhere near his campaign? He ran a nasty campaign against Obama, caused infighting within Hillary's circle and had to step down in disgrace.

Best to let him keep catering to the likes of Tony Blair and the WSJ.

Nancy Pelosi is the best congressperson in either chamber and new York's own Chuck Schumer gets my vote for best senator. Its always a treat hearing what Elizabeth Warren has to say, she will be a great senator. Even if she IS from redsox nation. Too bad Harry Reid isn't scheduled, he became one of my favorites over the summer. Great lineup . much better than anything the teabaggers have to offer.

Howard Dean.

Howard single-handedly brought the Democratic Party from the edge of the abyss back to thundering victory in the period when he was DNC chairman. He worked tirelessly and with an inspired, fierce dedication that brought us back from a minority in both Houses to a huge majority. Only his ineligibility to change the Supreme Court allowed Citizens United to pour unlimited dirty money into the election process, and put us where we are today.

If the party is unwilling to acknowledge Howard for his efforts--and his inspiration--by asking him to speak at the convention, I will be extremely disappointed.

Tue Sep 4, 2012, 10:21 AM

This just gives me chills..............

"We Are Alive"

There is a cross up yonder up on Calvary Hill
There is a slip of blood on a silver knife
There is a graveyard kid down below
Where at night did come to life
And above the stars, they crackle in fire
A dead man’s moon throws seven rings
Well, we put our ears to the cold grave stones
This is the song they’d sing

We are alive
And though our bodies lie alone here in the dark
Our spirits rise to carry the fire and light the spark
To stand shoulder to shoulder and heart to heart

A voice cried out, I was killed in Maryland in 1877
When the railroad workers made their stand
Well, I was killed in 1963 one Sunday morning in Birmingham
Well, I died last year crossing the southern Desert
My children left behind in San Pablo
Well they left our bodies here to rot
Oh please let them know

We are alive
Oh, and though we lie alone here in the dark
Our souls will rise to carry the fire and light the spark
To fight shoulder to shoulder and heart to heart

Let your mind rest easy, sleep well my friend
It’s only our bodies that betray us in the end

I awoke last night in a dark and dreamy deep
From my head to my feet, my body gone stone cold
There were worms crawling all around me
Fingers scratching at an earth black and six foot low
And alone in the blackness of my grave
Alone I’d been left to die
Then I heard voices calling all around me
The earth rose above me, my eyes filled with sky

We are alive
And though our bodies lie alone here in the dark
Our souls and spirits rise
To carry the fire and light the spark
To fight shoulder to shoulder and heart to heart
To stand shoulder to shoulder and heart to heart
We are alive
