(2,921 posts)but William Jefferson Blythe IV will be speaking live, of course.
Voice for Peace
(13,141 posts)in between some of the speeches, so people can see the
way they think, communicate, and work together.
Brilliant Idea!!
Speeches get boring no matter who when it's one after another.
I'm sure it's already all planned and hope it's creative. Obama
sure is looking good.

Panasonic
(2,921 posts)A fine, fine lady, that Diana DeGette.
I also see Gov. Hickenlooper as one of the speakers - good. Maybe Obama can lend him the beer recipe so Wynkoop Brewery (which Hickenlooper owns) can make massive quantities of White House beer for the victory party.
Also see Jared Polis - perfect! First openly gay Congressman ever elected to a Congress seat (I know - Barney Frank came OUT after he was elected)
But I see one other Coloradan scheduled to speak (and wish he wasn't speaking) - Ken Salazar - our former Senator, whose seat Bennet took over (and I still want him out). He is currently the Secretary of Interior.

(297,550 posts)he said the DNC wishes they had the "Diversity" of the rnc?

(20,136 posts)but then I thought perhaps it was simply because cabinet secretaries aren't usually as well known on the national stage as Hillary is. A long time ago, Secretary of State was the springboard for presidential candidates (now it's governor).

(69 posts)She must stay neutral and can't speak out. What they should do is bring in her old campaign manager. I hope the division that was there 4 years ago is over, but if it is not, someone needs to speak to that. We need to close ranks and be as solid as a rock.
JTFrog
(14,274 posts)That's the worst idea I've heard in a long time. I assume you mean Mark Penn? Why on earth would Obama want Penn anywhere near his campaign? He ran a nasty campaign against Obama, caused infighting within Hillary's circle and had to step down in disgrace.
Best to let him keep catering to the likes of Tony Blair and the WSJ.

(193 posts)Nancy Pelosi is the best congressperson in either chamber and new York's own Chuck Schumer gets my vote for best senator. Its always a treat hearing what Elizabeth Warren has to say, she will be a great senator. Even if she IS from redsox nation. Too bad Harry Reid isn't scheduled, he became one of my favorites over the summer. Great lineup . much better than anything the teabaggers have to offer.
I'm really liking this new "stand and fight" dem party. about time.
Obama Biden 2012
DFW
(54,436 posts)Howard Dean.
Howard single-handedly brought the Democratic Party from the edge of the abyss back to thundering victory in the period when he was DNC chairman. He worked tirelessly and with an inspired, fierce dedication that brought us back from a minority in both Houses to a huge majority. Only his ineligibility to change the Supreme Court allowed Citizens United to pour unlimited dirty money into the election process, and put us where we are today.
If the party is unwilling to acknowledge Howard for his efforts--and his inspiration--by asking him to speak at the convention, I will be extremely disappointed.
goblue316
(69 posts)I love Howard Dean. I think he should have been given more of a chance. I think his scream heard round the world was just him being passionate. He is very smart. Kerry would have been much better off if he would have chosen him to be his running mate.
President Obama should make him the keynote speaker for one of the nights...

Thanks for sharing. I came here this morning to see who is speaking. Now I'm really pumped up.
Look forward the President, First Lady & family. I'm proud of them.
Between now and election day, let's work together and help get out the vote. Let's help the President. Let's help give him the support he needs in Congress.
I am really fired up and ready to go! Let's send a very clear message that we will not go back to "Leave It To Beaver," back-alley abortions, corporate greed, racism, sexism, war, etc. Forward!

"We Are Alive"
There is a cross up yonder up on Calvary Hill
There is a slip of blood on a silver knife
There is a graveyard kid down below
Where at night did come to life
And above the stars, they crackle in fire
A dead mans moon throws seven rings
Well, we put our ears to the cold grave stones
This is the song theyd sing
We are alive
And though our bodies lie alone here in the dark
Our spirits rise to carry the fire and light the spark
To stand shoulder to shoulder and heart to heart
A voice cried out, I was killed in Maryland in 1877
When the railroad workers made their stand
Well, I was killed in 1963 one Sunday morning in Birmingham
Well, I died last year crossing the southern Desert
My children left behind in San Pablo
Well they left our bodies here to rot
Oh please let them know
We are alive
Oh, and though we lie alone here in the dark
Our souls will rise to carry the fire and light the spark
To fight shoulder to shoulder and heart to heart
Let your mind rest easy, sleep well my friend
Its only our bodies that betray us in the end
I awoke last night in a dark and dreamy deep
From my head to my feet, my body gone stone cold
There were worms crawling all around me
Fingers scratching at an earth black and six foot low
And alone in the blackness of my grave
Alone Id been left to die
Then I heard voices calling all around me
The earth rose above me, my eyes filled with sky
We are alive
And though our bodies lie alone here in the dark
Our souls and spirits rise
To carry the fire and light the spark
To fight shoulder to shoulder and heart to heart
To stand shoulder to shoulder and heart to heart
We are alive
