2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLook, I was pissed off when people tried to make Hillary Clinton's health a thing
After she fell there were threads here saying she should sit out the election and enjoy being a grandma. I thought it was something of a low point for DU at that time, and it would be hypocritical of me to not say the same thing now for Sanders.
I trust that every candidate is smart enough to know when he or she can or cannot run. If they're willing to campaign, are committed to doing the job and are of sound mind, I don't care if they're on the older side of life expectancy.
Bernie is not my first choice for our nominee. But his age doesn't bother me in the slightest. I can only hope to be as healthy and as active in my seventies as he is now.

(57,349 posts)You have indeed tried to be fair with your criticism.
Godhumor
(6,437 posts)But this falls very clearly into the, "How would I respond if someone said the same thing about my candidate" territory.
And thanks for the kind words. Oddly enough, I enjoy the people on GDP on all sides, for the most part. It is fun being here.

(57,349 posts)Those of us who have duked it out for years can handle the food fights in here but it's good to call people out when they go too far.
I do need to take breaks from GDP when it gets too toxic.

(16,954 posts)Looks like you don't take breaks after all.
"but it's good to call people out when they go too far." Maybe your previously admitted "bookmarking" and "compiling' of posting stats and calling people out is where the toxicity comes from. I thought calling out posters was against the TOS.
beam me up scottie
(57,349 posts)Maybe you should clean up your own house before trying to ruin Godhumor's thread.

In this thread you said you like to call people out.
beam me up scottie
(57,349 posts)If you could post the exact quote where I admitted I kept tabs on poster that would prove you weren't lying but I'll bet you won't.
I've discovered that liars can usually talk a good game but never back up their bullshit.
Post the proof or look like a liar, your choice.

You're calling someone out for having a high post count? That's a first.
Please stop the crap. This is a great post bringing people together. Your baloney is not helping anything nor making you look anything close to reasonable.

I think I'm supposed to be intimidated but after being stalked in real life these internet amateurs don't bother me.
The worst they can do is follow me around and try to bully me on DU. Hell after months of trying they still haven't been able to find my facebook page. I can hack it, I figure if the bullies and bigots hate me I must be doing something right.
It's just a shame they're trying to ruin a good thread by a classy Hillary supporter.
R B Garr
(16,954 posts)and your previous posts about keeping 'bookmarks" and "compilations" (your words) on other posters show the real story. Your obsessions are pretty obvious given your 8,500 posts in 90 days.
This place is unreadable with so many posts like that just calling people out (your words in this thread). Its no wonder people want to get away.

(57,349 posts)You don't want people to think you're lying, do you?
R B Garr
(16,954 posts)In this thread you said you "call people out" if they go too far "your words". I guess that's how you rack up the post count, by making this place unreadable.
beam me up scottie
(57,349 posts)And since you stalked me here to continue a discussion from another thread and are posting information from my profile as a call out I would argue that it's stalkers who not only make this place "unreadable", they also make DU suck.
And actually for the past 90 days I spent a lot of time in MIRT trying to make this place readable.
Ferreting out trolls is a lot of work.
R B Garr
(16,954 posts)That's why I found it so hilarious that you commented about derailing threads when you make this forum unreadable with your obsessions. I can barely go into any thread here without seeing you attacking people personally. You even comment in this thread thread that you call people out.
beam me up scottie
(57,349 posts)Your stalking is obvious and unless you can post proof of my "keeping tabs" on posters that will make you a hypocrite and a liar.
Last chance.
Proof or you're lying.
R B Garr
(16,954 posts)behaviour of calling people out. You said it here in this thread that you call people out if they go too far, which makes you the admitted stalker.
beam me up scottie
(57,349 posts)You may now resume your stalking but it's obvious you have zero credibility.
R B Garr
(16,954 posts)Just look at this thread where you said you call people out if they go too far and then you have to pad your post count with manipulative denials of what you just typed.

(18,219 posts)We will all call people out if they go too far, or if they are exhibiting behavior that should not be ignored. You are making a fool of yourself here. Commenting on a post that should be called out is not "stalking". Learn the difference.
Not that it is any of your business, or any of our businesses, how many posts some DUers make, but BMUS did give an explanation that seems fair to me that she has been on MIRT for the past 90 days. That takes a lot of posts to do it right.
BTW, this is a call out, but it certainly is not stalking. I have no idea who you are, and just wandered into this thread and noticed how badly you are treating another DUer.
Lordquinton
(7,886 posts)Where is the posts you claim to exist? And why to you refuse to post them?
BMUS's post count can be explained by having numerous exchanges like this where she asks a question, the other person refuses to answer, she asks again, other person refuses to answer and so on. Happens to me a lot, amazing how much you can go back and forth when one side flat out refuses to answer simple questions, and spins hard to throw it back on the person they are *ahem* conversing with.
Now, can you answer her (and now my) simple question? Where are the posts you claim exist?
R B Garr

(6,452 posts)And we're still waiting for the link. Come on champ, you can do it - just post the link.

R B Garr
(16,954 posts)Start with that. I'll kick the thread again now. Look for it.
EvolveOrConvolve
(6,452 posts)Just post the damn link.
R B Garr
(16,954 posts)So off you go. Lets see if she edits.
EvolveOrConvolve
(6,452 posts)It's not against the rules, so just post the damn link.

R B Garr
(16,954 posts)So phony, and so is your comment.
EvolveOrConvolve
(6,452 posts)You deliberately misrepresent something BMUS said by pointing to a thread where she didn't say what you claimed she said, then wonder why I asked for a link?
I believe the scientific term is "calling someone on their bullshit", and bingo, I gotcha.

(52,163 posts)and ironically it might well be with contemporaries of them in terms of age that this issue is the most pressing. To me, age is a very individual thing. I look at Tony Bennett, who is still touring in his 80's. Barry Manilow doing so in his mid 70's. Shirley McClain who is still dancing marvelously in her 80's and don't forget Jane Fonda, Lilly Tomlin, Martin Sheen, and Sam Waterston who are marvelous on Netflix in their 70's. That said, I also think of my own parents both of whom are dead (mom at 62 dad at 77) and can't help to wonder just how able they would be to keep that kind of schedule. Both of them appear to be in great health, both seem to have taken care of themselves (neither smoke, neither drink to excess, neither seem to over eat etc) but anyone in their late 40's and beyond personally know people who looked great and then didn't really fast at the ages both of them are. A younger, capable VP nominee would be a must for either one (Palin was all the more troubling given McCain was a 73 year old cancer survivor).
morningfog
(18,115 posts)If age is a concern, and with either of the two it is or could be, consider the VP. It has to be someone with vitality and youth on their side. Simply a must. And whatever happens happens, as we all know.
Godhumor
(6,437 posts)It says something when O'Malley is the young ones if the candidates. I have been pretty adamant that Castro will be Clinton's selection, if she wins the nomination, because he fills in a lot of gaps for her. One of which has to be the fact that he is quite young by political standards.
I'm not sure what Bernie's thinking would be for Veep. Most of the current federal critters have already aligned themselves with Clinton, so it might be a bit awkward when it is time to choose one to help him run the country.
