"Even as they castigate Mr. Obama, the neocons may be preparing a more brazen feat: aligning themselves with Hillary Rodham Clinton and her nascent presidential campaign, in a bid to return to the driver's seat of American foreign policy."

MORE WAR.
Hillary is the neocons best bet - better than the Republican options.
It's time America gave up the war profits and stopped the killing.

Has Pol Pot been reincarnated as Bernie Sanders's campaign manager?
No.
Does Bernie Sanders use flame throwers in caves in an attempt to kill endangered bats?
No.

(11,804 posts)Seems like it would be a Clinton Presidency to me, but I guess other people may disagree.

(38,437 posts)By the way, you need to speak to some on your tribe who are pounding the drum that Sanders has this awesome appeal with Republicans.

(38,437 posts)Huh. So, the basis of all this bullshit is that in the impossible event that Rand Paul is elected president, the neocons would abandon Paul for Clinton.
Wow.

(38,613 posts)I'm sure it was an oversight:
Other neocons have followed Mr. Kagans careful centrism and respect for Mrs. Clinton. Max Boot, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, noted in The New Republic this year that it is clear that in administration councils she was a principled voice for a strong stand on controversial issues, whether supporting the Afghan surge or the intervention in Libya.
And the thing is, these neocons have a point. Mrs. Clinton voted for the Iraq war; supported sending arms to Syrian rebels; likened Russias president, Vladimir V. Putin, to Adolf Hitler; wholeheartedly backs Israel; and stresses the importance of promoting democracy.
Its easy to imagine Mrs. Clintons making room for the neocons in her administration. No one could charge her with being weak on national security with the likes of Robert Kagan on board.

(3,655 posts)That is not the Hillary I remember. I remember Hillary dodging every last one of those issues when she was in the Senate.

Hillary is Republican light.

Bought and paid for.

(38,437 posts)Some guy writes an opinion piece and quotes some other guy who we are to believe represents the new generation of neocons. And this neocon says that if Rand Paul, who currently is polling below the margin of error, gets the GOP nod, then he and his HUGE horde of neocons will be forced to vote for Hillary. So that means that Hillary is the new Queen Neocon. It also implies that Paul is to the left of Hillary, and anyone to the right of St Bernie is a neocon. Thus, the only two politicians on the national stage who are NOT neocons are Bernie and Paul.
Awesome!
You can only get this sort of thing from DU.

(30,481 posts)Amazing the mental gymnastics that come from republicans. What amazes me even more is how some on the "left" eat it up and run with it.

(11,804 posts)So you'd say I'm being a bad member of the Sanders Tribe by suggesting that American Hawks - those who want to see continued militarism - would be happier with a Clinton Presidency? I don't really go to the tribal meetings; I'm not really a joiner. It's not surprising I've missed something.
But when I consider which candidate is more likely to engage in military adventurism, Sanders or Clinton, an answer comes immediately to mind.
