2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumA hypothesis
(I posted this in another thread, but the argument deserves its own thread)
For a while now, polling shows Bernie has as good a chance, or even better, of winning the general election as does Hillary.
Therefore, many who recently supported Clinton, but for whom Bernie represents their values more so than Hillary, have realized they can support Bernie in the primary without feeling like they are endangering the party and risking the White House.
Even if Clinton wins, a person who votes for Bernie in the primary can still vote for Clinton in the general election. No harm, no foul.
If Sanders wins the primary, again there is no harm, no foul. We'll have a good President at a time when the country desperately needs a good President.
We might even have a great President.

(40,416 posts)Mainly due to the vat of necrotizing fasciitis that the primary forums have become. Nevertheless, I recently stated here that I will be supporting Bernie Sanders in the MI primary and that I will be supporting whichever candidate gets the nomination in the general election.
I came to the decision that it served no purpose for me to remain coy about my preference when a fellow DUer told me that I was an obvious HillaryBot.
Nevertheless, I will eschew posting in either the candidate forums or the primary forum unless I feel that I can extricate myself from the discussion gracefully.
All of them have become toxic waste dumps as far as I can tell.
I will try to keep what few posts I make to be positive campaigning. I prefer to ignore the two-year-old behavior extant in 2016 primary Democratic discussions.
My best to you all.

(38,437 posts)Some of the more rabid, frothing-at-the-mouth types here have made it perfectly clear that they view Clinton as a criminal, amoral, and unsupportable. I'd be shocked to see them change their stance.
