2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumso, will hillary step up and have a "damn email" moment at the debate?
we know the corporate m$m will try and use this tomorrow to smear bernie. and no doubt they will try and get the other candidates to comment. hillary has a choice. she can do what bernie did, rise above it, and call right there on the debate floor for his access to be reinstated. or she can go ugly and accuse him of improper campaigning...which will she choose?

(22,271 posts)I hope she proves me wrong but this is Hillary and there's a reason people don't like her. We'll see if she takes the high road.

(19,460 posts)This debate will be more about national security. I don't think Sanders' little flub up comes close to what is really important in this country.

(12,655 posts)but we know the mods love to poke a hornets nest. they did it with hillary's email situation. i have no doubt they will do it here. they just want to start a brawl, and last time, bernie did not give them the satisfaction. hopefully hillary will do the same.

(3,967 posts)this will be the first question for sanders. he will look defensive and evasive while trying to be honest and forthcoming, then they will ask clinton to comment and she will smile and say something generous, with a plausibly deniable stinger at the end ("as far as I know" . then o'malley will try to position himself as the voice of reason. then they will ask another question on it to sanders.

(9,148 posts)It would be all over by the next debate.
Why would Hillary stoop to bernie's low level by dismissing his heist of campaign data on Hillary to use against her in the debate & final weeks before the Primaries begin? What a stupid underhanded thing to do.
This is his problem to resolve by turning over all the data his office took.
To intentionally grab data he knew he shouldn't have used, to sabatoge a competetors campaign, is really the low level sleaze that has taken down those mightier & far more important than bernie sanders.
Disgraceful is a good description of the sander's campaign.
And he wants to lead this nation?

(42,862 posts)I often wonder if Bernie's "damn email" outburst wasn't really meant to literally defend Hillary ... but because of its delivery, he missed the target, allowing Hillary to react as though he was "coming to her aid" (thus reinforcing the perception that he did) instead of being an abrupt attempt to redirect and inject his views regarding subjects that he's most passionate about (and most comfortable with).
With regard to the "options" you mention for Hillary... those aren't the only ones. It's not binary. She can also choose do do nothing, say nothing, not interfere and let Bernie handle this mess himself.
Like I said, she's smart. She knows politics and how to play the game.
If Bernie can't overcome this "minor" (??) situation, then that suggests to me that he's not ready for a general election and everything that the GOP machine has in store.

(30,481 posts)The email issue was a blatant right wing witch hunt into Clinton. The two situations aren't even close to the same. Sanders was fought with his hand in the cookie jar. The republicans used congress to start a false investigation into Clinton. We should all be backing Clinton against the worst this country has to offer. We should all be requesting transparency from the Sanders campaign.
