Related: About this forumCNN poll: Obama 52, Romney 46
President Barack Obama leads Mitt Romney by six points nationally among likely voters, according to a CNN/ORC poll released Monday.
Fifty-two percent of likely voters support Obama, and 46 percent back Romney (2 percent responded neither, and 1 percent had no opinion). That's a four-point bump since a poll taken before the Democratic convention in Charlotte, N.C., when the two candidates were tied at 48 percent. Prior to both conventions, Obama had 49 percent to Romney's 47 percent.
Obama took the lead as the candidate better trusted to handle the economy, with 50 percent of likely voters saying he'd do a better job on the issue, compared to 49 percent who favored Romney (1 percent said neither). Prior to the Democratic convention, Romney led 51 to 45 on the issue.
Democrats also expressed renewed excitement following Charlotte, coming out on the winning side of the enthusiasm gap for only the second time in 2012, with 59 percent saying they were extremely or very enthusiastic to vote, compared to 57 percent of Republicans who felt similarly.

(60 posts)What I wonder is how on earth he even has support from 46% of the population. It's the Republicans in Congress that are to blame for their Filibusters from 2009-2010 and total obstructionism from 2011-2012.
The President of the United States is not a king or dictator, he does not have the power to pass laws or fix problems without Congressional approval, thus the blame at everything that's wrong with the country lies with the Congress, Republican controlled for the last two years, filibustered for the two years before that.
Not to mention, it was Republican philosophy that governed us the eight years prior to Obama's election.
Then again, these are the same people that believe impeaching Bill Clinton over Monica Lewinsky was more important than impeaching Bush for leaking information about Valerie plame.

According to the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll, Obama is up 50-44 among registered voters, signifying an approximately 7 point bounce. However, for likely voters, he barely leads Mr. Romney, 49 percent to 48 percent, signifying a 3 point bounce.
There's a silver lining however: Among registered voters, the Democratic incumbent is up up 54 percent to 40 percent in 8 swing states! Previously, it was 42-48. Ain't that some shit?
Interesting: Never has there been an incumbent with an approval rating below 50 percent in September of an election year that has been re-elected in ABC/Post polls -- dating back to the Reagan presidency!
Here's the pudding: Mr. Obama leads in likability by a whopping 34 points, 61 percent to 27 percent.
While 43 percent say the economys gotten worse under Obamas presidency, most, 57 percent, dont think it would have done any better under Romney. And while 20 percent say they personally have gotten better off under Obama, essentially no more, 24 percent, think theyd have done better under a Romney presidency.

(4,551 posts)ABC has been one of the pollsters that has had Obama the lowest, so any improvement from them is a good sign.
ABC is the only poll still in the RCP average showing a +1 lead for Romney last month, so if this ABC poll replaces it, it should push Obama's national lead up again.
