The Official Republican Gnashing of Teeth "We are going to lose thread"

Romney isn't just a terrible candidate for the Republican Party, they personally don't like him.

It isn't his deaf ear and lack of charm its the fact that he has never done the chicken dinner circuit (unlike Ronald Reagan who spent years helping struggling Republican candidates) raising money or getting chits.

We will soon be witnessing a rush to the exits as Republican pundits will soon flush Mitt down the toilet and try and maintain credibility by letting everyone know that they were not fooled and next time the Republican herd should listen to them.

As the rats abandon ship we will add their names.

Ann Coulter led the doom and gloom brigade with this prediction from February 2011

He couldn't pull off the chicken brigade thing even if he tried, his profound unease being there would cast a psle over everything. Romney's only value to the Republican Party is that he opens the tap to Wall Street money full force for them. But even mpney can't buy an electkon if people fundementally don't like the guy.

The big queston for me has always been, why did he enter politics in the first place? Why has he run for President for 8 years? Why did he run for Governor after losing the Senate seat to Teddy? Neither of the two obvious answers hold water for me. I don't think he cares enough about public service to go through all the trouble. And I don't think he is worried about helping others of his class stay rich - he knows how to game the system without having to control the White House to do so.

I think he may have the George W. syndrome. He resents the fact that his father was not given the respect due him. George Romney was a quality man who became a laughing stock when his presidential run was derailed by his comment that he "was brainwashed" by his briefers when he visited South Viet Nam. I wonder if Mitt is motivated by family honor? Alternately, maybe he thinks he can clear a big hurdle for his faith winning world wide acceptance by becoming the first Morman president.

In any case, this is a diversion from the thrust of your OP

George Will just landed some solid blows against the Mitt, did he not?
