Nancy Pelosi Hints Broadly at Hillary Clinton Endorsement

Only twice in her long career in Democratic politics has Nancy Pelosi endorsed someone for president. The first was California Gov. Jerry Brown in 1976 and the second was former House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt in 2004. Both were mentors to her.

But this cycle, the House Democratic leader says she plans on endorsing a candidate. Who? She won’t quite say, sitting under a painting in her Capitol office of San Francisco Bay by John Hultberg on loan from the Young Museum, because she’s “under the dome” where she doesn’t mix politics and policy. But Pelosi does hint broadly on who she might endorse (hint, it’s a woman).

1. Not exactly a surprise. BTW, Pelosi sort of endorsed Obama during the 2008 primary.

During the 2008 primary, Hillary Clinton said that Senator McCain and she (Clinton) were ready for the 3 am phone call, but Senator Obama was not.

Shortly after that, Pelosi was asked something about the nomination. She replied that no one who said that the Republican candidate would do better than a Democratic candidate would get the Democratic Party nomination.

Did she say it in so many words? No. Did she say it? Yes.

You know that the votes were never there for a conviction, and that failing to convict would have been seen by the public as an acquittal, as well as a huge waste of time better spent on the issues they were worried about, right?

9. I find it fascinating when people invent "what history would be"...

Not only does clicking your heels three times and reciting this nonsense show a smug attitude towards the constituency's ability to deliver a mandate to their leaders; it creates a false narrative to survives in the minds of those who would rather "move one" than abide by the law. All of a sudden war crimes don't matter? How weak minded can that be?

Maybe this belief makes some Democrats feel better about the blunders of under Pelosi for accountability when we were in the majority with an executive with political capital, but it more likely demonstrates a false analogy of what members of the Bush administration committed ... They committed war crimes.

The rant I hear in this response of yours wants to erase uncomfortable truths. Well it can't, and we lost a profound moment to do good after a whole lot of evil was done to others IN OUR NAME.

So, don't recite that bullshit about who wants Bush and Cheney acquitted with, "You know that the votes were never there." That disgusting response demonstrates how little you are even willing to think about those votes and how much you're willing to look the other way. You can bend over and grab your ankles, but I won't.

Pelosi didn't think it was a good idea; Reid didn't think it was a good idea; Obama didn't think it was a good idea.
