Romney Leads in Montana
A new Public Policy Polling survey in Montana shows Mitt Romney leading President Obama by five points, 50% to 45%.
Key findings: "Obama is quite unpopular in Montana, with only 44% of voters approving of him to 54% who disapprove. But Romney doesn't lead by a wider margin because he isn't very popular in his own right either: 47% of voters rate him favorably to 48% with a negative opinion."
In the U.S. Senate race, Sen. Jon Tester (D) has a very small lead over challenger Denny Rehberg (R), 45% to 43%.

(4,551 posts)It was definitely winnable for him in 2008 and he came within 3 points, but it will probably still be just out of reach.
Even Bill Clinton only won it once, in 1992, although he came close in 1996.
I am sure what Obama most wants to see in Montana is for Sen. Tester to win - that is the key objective. Tester winning would likely mean a MAJORITY in the Senate for Obama, which is more important for him than winning the state itself.
Of course winning Montana would be great too, although I notice that Governor S. had a higher-profile in the Democratic Party in 2008 than in 2012. In 2008 I remember him speaking at the DNC.
All Dems in Montana need to give Sen. Tester as much help as they can. I think he will be on Ed Shultz's show tonight.
