I have seen many campaigns in many elections. Never, NEVER, have I seen a campaign as poorly run and unbelievably gaffe prone as Romney/Ryan 2012. This has got to be the most schizoid, bumbling, inept and dishonest political (and I use the word loosely) crazy quilt campaign I have ever witnessed. It ran off the cliff weeks ago, but damn, I'M LOVING IT!

individuals make up part of the US. This country would fly apart if they got control. I've been around the US a long time and never have I felt so uncomfortable with many of my fellow citizens. I hope this is just a phase, but I don't know, there is so much absolutely crazy talk and ideas anymore.

The only campaigns you missed were Golwater vs. Johnson, and McCarthy/Humphrey Democratic Party in-fighting versus Nixon

Nixon had a "secret plan" to end the war in Vietnam, in 1968, which became total withdrawal in 1973!

Compare and contrast Mitt Romney's secret tax plans, secret budget cuts, and absence of position on international issues.

LBJ at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Watching the returns come in for Humphrey (God bless him!) Nixon on black and white tv. Remember when the roll call of the states actually meant something? Nixon/Kennedy debates. I've always been a political junkie, even before I could vote.

In fact, this morning I got a phone call from an old friend two time zones away. We had not talked for a long time but we had worked together on campaigns back in the 70s and 80s. I laughed to myself as I looked at the caller ID and knew he was up and watching the morning news and thinking "Oh My Fucking God..."

I picked up the phone and before I could even say hello he said "This is by far the worst run presidential campaign I have ever seen. What a bunch of hacks with an idiot for a client..." I chuckled and said "I am good, how are you?"

We then talked for over an hour doing a compare and contrast and concluded that he is his own adviser with a little "help" from John Bolton.

My theory is that Romney is not really a leader at all. He seems to have hired a group of people to take care of things and goes with what they bring to him. He does not think on his feet, he does not have deep understanding of any topic and he postures according to someon's instructions.
His first presser had him smiling and smirking. His second one he was "worried and serious" even though he was reiterating a big mistake.

The McGovern Campaign in 1972 was pretty badly run, but I was 17 at the time and working in only my 2nd election. Going through the "disaster of the day" at the time, it felt like listening to a bad joke for an hour. I did, however, have a very youthful perspective, so robme's campaign may actually be worse.

George McGovern, at least, was and is a decent, honorable and intelligent man. robme is a walking turd.

PEACE!

Romney is without a doubt one of the weirdest characters ever to run for the presidency. I'm laying down bets that there's a lighted a panel in his back with transistors, resistors and diodes.

Your next stop...The Twilight Zone.

The first president I was aware of as a child was President Eisenhower. He would never even recognize the party of the 2012 Republicans.

Sometimes when I see people posting here who never lived with a 45 record collection, or a long playing 33-1/3, or even KNOW what a black and white TV's horizontal and vertical controls look like..... I wonder

I'm even someone that didn't have a TV in my home before I was 7.
