Hillary superfan Froma Harrop issues an "apology" about Bernie and doubles down

in calling.him a racist, insisting that bernie "fled" to Vermont because of it's demographics.

Journalist, my ass. Just a loathsome piece of crap who has perfected the art of using an apology to smear. Passive aggressively.

<snip>

That doesn’t mean I haven’t regretted things I’ve said or the tone used. I have. So here’s a compromise: I will issue one apology a year.
And the winner for 2015 is … Bernie Sanders.

Why Bernie? Some liberal friends complain that I’ve been overly dismissive of the senator from Vermont’s candidacy. They have cause.

I was especially rough in pointing out the cracks in Bernie’s self-portrait of a national force for civil rights. Perhaps I overdid it.

But the fact remains that he fled the troubled New York of the ‘60s for the whitest state in the nation. It baffles that he shares his campaign stage with Cornel West, a black academic who condemns Barack Obama in nasty racial terms.

On advancing civil rights, Bernie’s been totally on board. Still, one can see why ordinary African-Americans seem to relate better to Hillary Clinton.

<snip>
But there’s a big question besides “can you win?” That is, “what would happen if you did?” For all your solid thinking, you’ve never been able to work with others in Washington, and we’re not just talking about Republicans. You often can’t get along with liberal Democrats.

Your “holier than thou” attitude, as former Rep. Barney Frank put it, has kept you from actively participating in the formation of laws. That bill you negotiated with conservatives to improve veterans’ health care doesn’t count. Helping veterans is not a hard sell.

You don't count. That bill got me and thousands of other vets into the VA to get some much needed care. Personally, it probably helped save my life. Doesn't count? If it's so easy, then why didn't Sistah Clinton do anything about the VA while she was Senator? After all, with her IWR vote, she directly contributed to the plight of veterans. Doesn't count. The "contributions" you're making to this country land you in the negative column. F off, lady. It counts.

Obama scores as exotic who says nothing
by Froma Harrop
DECEMBER 27, 2006

Obama's appeal comes not from the things he says, but from who is saying them. He scores as an exotic who talks of barbershops and church socials in the flat tones you'd expect from any son of the prairie.

Had Bayh been half-Kenyan and raised in Hawaii by white grandparents from Kansas, he too would have become a political star, at least for the month of December. But he is a conventional white man. When Bayh speaks in the quiet Midwestern way, he gets tarred as lackluster.

...

The senator dislikes the "either-or" type of debate and warns against "false choices." He's not too left, not too right. Sort of black, and sort of white.

Obama is humble in all the right places. Before a thousand swooning fans in New Hampshire, he says, Evita-like: "This isn't about me. This is about you." One gets the impression from his public appearances and book, "The Audacity of Hope," that he doesn't even get a haircut without first consulting his wife.

...

What Obama really thinks should be done about health care and the terrorist threat remain secrets that his book does not unlock. His two years in the Senate certainly haven't revealed any bold policy ideas.

http://freepress.org/article/obama-scores-exotic-who-says-nothing

Now that's hypocrisy.

In 2015, we have Bernie Sanders, who has messy hair and whose ideas on Single Payer health care, marijuana legalization, and free tuition are elaborated in Senate bills he introduced.

She should be praising Sanders instead of writing a fake apology which smears him.

... of women who see Hillary as their last hope of installing a 1960s-type feminist to power.

I think that is why they were intensely bitter and angry about Obama in 2008 who stole what they thought should have been Hillary's nomination. And they are even more angry now that anyone, especially a genuinely progressive man, challenges Hillary yet again.

They think their feminist history and advocacy has earned them the right to have one of their cohort become President.
How dare anyone on the perceived left run against their chosen standard-bearer -- it is Hillary's turn. Period.

Of course, Hillary Clinton is not Bella Abzug or Shirley Chislom or Betty Friedan or Pat Schroeder, etc. Hillary is the product of marrying strategically and hop-scotching over the real revolutionary efforts of the 1960s 'Women's Liberation' movement, in my opinion.

So, I think Hillary is an ersatz feminist compared even now to Elizabeth Warren or Patty Murray, et al., who really made it to positions of prominence and influence all on their own.

It must be a real frustration to this bunch, too, that young women and men are finding the income equality message of Sen. Sanders so compelling and gender so secondary. The issues and the new milieu of economic distress is passing by Hillary Clinton and her cadre of supporters.

certainly not Bernie because nothing makes sense anywhere. he gets along fine with both Democrats and Republicans. Hillary doesn't get alone with alot of Democrats and well we know that. Gets along fine with some Conservatives can't say Republicans. Possibly the same reason why I say there is the Conservative Party and the Liberal Party. no R and D. Tea Party made a mess of that and I was never a big Bill Clinton fan to begin with. Namely he's no pro Environment guy. The only reason it looked that was was because of Al Gore. Course Al Gore had his problems with someone called Tipper Gore and censorship which is more or less an advertisement since the dawn of time. Did not become the NC-17 she wanted. except at Walmart.
