2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhich past Presidency do you think each candidate's would be like?
There's always the comparison to be made to the past in which administration they'd be like in terms of style, tone and demeanor. Who do you think a President Sanders, Clinton or O'Malley would be likened to with how they'd perform?

(67,112 posts)O'Malley I'm not sure. I Know a lot of people in Maryland really liked him. Relative to the GOP, frankly, I'm going to be frightened if one of them is elected in 2016.

(24,411 posts)Sanders would be a transformative, historical president like FDR.
Hillary would be like George W Bush. The neocon agenda would drive her presidency and we'd be engaged in augmented war in the Middle East. Wall Street would enjoy unfettered freedom to abuse this country and the middle class would shrink due to exacerbated income disparity.

(35,361 posts)Carter nice guy but no chance getting anything done. Clinton who else but Clinton. OMalley who is that?

(5,614 posts)Trump would be more like George Wallace, though I don't wish he would end up that way.

(1,095 posts)She has way more spine than her husband, IMHO. A little JFK thrown into the mix due to the family stuff.
Sanders = Carter, but with less accomplished. But we all would end up loving him once his term was up.
MOM = hard to say. He's a wild card. Like a lot of what he says, but he seems a little raw. After he grew into the position I think he could be pretty darn good.

(36,063 posts)Certainly interested in breaking up too big corporations and preventing their abuses, and Sanders positions on Climate change and firearms shows some of Roosevelts appreciation for conservation of the environment (here using conservation as it was defined by Gifford Pinchot and understood by TR).
H Clinton's would, imo, most likely be like...B Clinton's and I think likely overshadowed by it as well.
OMalley... I am not so sure, I see him with similarities to a handful of presidents... Harry Truman's interest in justice/law and order), JFK (imo, particularly on immigration), and Obama (a capable technician desiring to work from a balanced center).
