Siena: Buerkle-Maffei looking like another squeaker (NY-24)

Albany Times-Union

Siena College Research has another entry in its series of surveys on bellwether congressional races, this time focusing on the race between GOP incumbent Ann Marie Buerkle and former Democratic Rep. Dan Maffei. It’s looking like a reprise of their 2010 matchup, which ended up coming down to absentee ballots.

Each candidate is currently pulling 43 percent of voters, with 7 percent for Green Party candidate Ursula Rozum and 6 percent undecided, Siena found.

The poll was conducted Sept. 5-10, meaning it included the finale of the Democratic National Convention — something Buerkle is likely to cite in her response, in much the same way that the neighboring 21st District’s GOP challenger Matt Doheny claimed Monday’s Siena poll showing him getting klonked by Rep. Bill Owens was skewed by the Dem gathering.

I hope the Green Party is getting something out of this; if Buerkle wins again, I don't think environmental issues (fracking in particular) will be high on her priority list.
