Who's The Liar Now, Donald Trump?

After weeks of calling Hillary Clinton a liar because she rightly said terrorist groups would use his words to make recruiting videos, Donald Trump seems to be the one in error. To put it kindly, anyway.

ABC News:

The militant group Al-Shabaab -- Al Qaeda's affiliate in Somalia -- has released a recruitment video featuring GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.

The more-than 51-minute propaganda video comes on the heels of a war of words between Trump and Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton over her suggestion that the real estate mogul's controversial remarks about Muslims would be used to recruit jihadis.

The video includes a clip of Trump calling for a "shutdown" of Muslims entering the United States.

"Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what the [bleep] is going on," Trump says in the clip. The group bleeps out Trump's use of the word "hell."

I know this has already made the rounds here, but I'm not going to let this pass without promoting the truth myself. It was obvious that what Hillary said was true. It didn't take a foreign policy expert to recognize that hate groups everywhere are hearting Trump and his reckless, opportunistic demagoguery and bigotry.

Interesting to me is how many anti-Hillary posters here took Trump's bait and used his bullshittery to bash our Democratic candidate. I don't want an apology, as the other thread demanded. I would like folks here to take more care that their politics don't originate with or mirror the rabid republican right.

Not too much to ask, I think, from a community of Democrats with a majority of progressive voices looking to make a difference in this campaign.

The only people likely to 'have a field day' are those whose primary mission is scoring petty, political points against Hillary. Folks here at DU have always recognized the importance of rebuking the republican right, whatever their target. That effort looks to have gone out of the window when it comes to primary politics.

When all of the smoke from this election clears, and we have a nominee to challenge the republicans, I hope we can get back to all of that. Nothing in our primary is worth giving cover and props to Trump. That should be a no-brainer, but, here we are.

It amazes my that: 1) folks on this board would pile on and support trump on this; 2) the DUer idea that a former SoS, would not know, and maintain, contacts with the State Department and other agencies that give her access to information that the public doesn't/shouldn't have; 3) that DU is unable/unwilling to anticipate that trump's rhetoric is working to inflame large parts of the Muslim AND non-Muslim world.
