Transcript:
Ill close with this:
A constant refrain in the Presidential race so far is that the TV ads havent been all that great, and havent done all that much to change the race. Now well see if things change over the critical next months, as the campaigns and the superPACs make adjustments, and as Donald Trump promises to join the ad wars.
But as of today, if theres one exception, Id say its Bernie Sanders. Smart politicos in New Hampshire, both Democrats and Republicans, say one reason the Vermont Senator has a chance to beat Hillary Clinton there is that his ads stand out on the crowded airwaves, and are aimed squarely, directly at the democratic constituencies he knows are critical to his chances.
The part I find interesting is where King seems to do his best to use his first point to downplay his second.

"Not all that great..."
Frankly, I can't remember the last time, before Sanders, I've seen, in my lifetime, an ad I thought was "great."
Remember Smiling?
Vote Bernie - 2016!

(57,936 posts)They do want the change that Bernie wants to bring about.
Romney is a total egotist.
Bernie is not.
That's the difference.
Romney from deep within only thinks about the advantage he will get from a policy or something he does or stands for.
Bernie from deep within thinks about the advantage everyone will get from the policies and things he does or stands for.
Neither man consciously realizes why he makes the choices he makes. They are just different very deep within who they are.
It's not that Bernie is perfect. It is that he cares.
Romney only cared about himself. No matter how much he tried to pretend that he cared about others (and maybe he did care about his family), he is just not capable about caring about the common good. Bernie does care about the common good. Bernie is just human, but with that special trait: he cares about the rest of us.
The Roosevelts, Teddy and Franklin as well as Eleanor also just were caring people. Teddy Roosevelt became that. Eleanor was that naturally. Franklin suffered and out of that suffering became a man of compassion and understanding.
Romney would never be able to understand that. Neither would Trump. And the Bushes are the very antithesis of caring people.

I like the Rigged Economy ad the best. Short and to the point. Besides, he used an image of MLK in the other ad, doesn't his campaign read DU?

His ads stand out because he stands out. He embodies real change.

(22,271 posts)Those are such great ads! I can see why they stand out -- absolutely no bullshit, just honest, straightforward ideas. I can't wait to start seeing them in California.
