Why can't people see what it means to vote for the Republicans?

I know so many people who call themselves "moderates" that will vote Republican every election. Thomas Frank captured part of this phenomena in his book, "What's the Matter with Kansas" when he brilliantly illustrated how people so often vote against their own self interests. However, it goes deeper than that. When you call yourself a moderate and still vote Republican, you give TACIT APPROVAL OF:

* The most blatant obstruction and disrespect of a sitting president in American history

* Unlimited corporate dollars that fund campaign commercials where there is zero regard for the truth and it is OK to blatantly lie

* A nation where women will be considered second class citizens and will have laws written by men to control their lives

* Voter disenfranchisement of minorities in a matter reminiscent of the pre-1960's Jim Crow Era

* Hatred of Gay Americans and a belief that they are not entitled to the same rights afford to all other Americans

* An America where it is OK to use the military as a patriotic backdrop, but then to be a nation that turns it back our Veterans

* Jingoistic, Neocon international ideas such as the Bush Doctrine of "strike first, ask questions later."

* Allowing the 1 % to own well over 50 % of the wealth in this country

* A continued weakening of the separation of church and state

* The demonetization of noble professions such as government workers, teachers, cops, firemen, who just happen to be some of the
last Americans who still have strong unions

* The REAL Death Panels: Insurance companies who get to decide what would get covered and what would not

* A repeal of not only FDR's New Deal, but a return to the Robber Baron days of the late 1800's in terms of unlimited corporate
power, deregulation, and not having any environmental standards

How can ANYONE possible call themselves a moderate when they vote for a party that supports all of the above?
