Bryan Fischer Of American Family Association Slams Mitt Romney's 'Lackluster Campaign'
Posted: 09/14/2012 1:22 pm Updated: 09/14/2012 5:08 pm
WASHINGTON -- Bryan Fischer, of the American Family Association, a conservative Christian group, slammed Mitt Romney on Friday for running a lackluster campaign void of any ideas and accused the campaign of putting a bag over vice presidential nominee Paul Ryans head.
Mitt Romney right now should be leading by 10 or 15 points and the fact that hes not is Mitt Romneys problem, Fischer told reporters at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C. Its because hes running such a lackluster campaign that has been so vague on ideas. What plan is he offering the American people?
The host of the talk radio show "Focal Point" went on to say that the Republican Partys conservative base lit up upon Ryans appointment to the presidential ticket. But instead of embracing the Wisconsin congressmans vision and ideas, the Romney campaign chose to put a sock in Paul Ryans mouth.

Fischer also stated that should Romney lose in November, conservatives will be done ... finished. In such a case, he called for the GOP to immediately get behind Rick Perry and start planning for 2016.
If Barack Obama wins this election, the Republican Party as we know it is finished, Fischer said. It is dead, it is toast, you can stick a fork in it.

(2,711 posts)much like Bush ignoring General Powell's admonitions about invading Iraq, we destroyed the Republican Party in 1974 and look what rose up out of the ashes.

(2,522 posts)Instead, we allowed them to ponder over what went wrong, what laws were violated and then change those laws such that now Nixon would be in the clear.

(55,981 posts)the control of the Democrats? The HOR? Dont forget the REpublicans will get some help from the Blue Dogs.
And just because the Party might wither doesnt mean that the conservatives will vanish into vapor. Guess where the conservatives will go? For a clue ask Alen Specter.
I see a big swing in the Republican Party's future. Jeb Bush will come riding in on his white horse (from the Bush ranch) and save the Party. Rove will dispatch Palin and the clowns with no trouble.

The goal of this article is to scare people into voting for the really horrible lack-luster GOP candidate because if they don't, Obama will win. And the party will be dead.
Which is the lesser of two evils?

(7,113 posts)But seriously, Mike Malloy said something similar about the Dem Party after the loss in 2004 -- that it would take a decade or so to rebuild the party. Of course, the Dems did quite well for themselves in both 2006 and 2008.

(11,464 posts)We need to win in 16 and 20 after we crush them this time.
To put that proverbial nail in and not let them rise from the dead this time.
We must take back the house, and the Supreme Court.
and just as important, the governorships, which for some reason we let them win(maybe a good forward point would be to not put governors into a presidential cabinet, we need them being governors), and also lower positions, mayor, assembly, etc. Because they are the minor league benches that move up to house and senate.
It will take 12 more years to do so and forever margionalize backward thinking republicanteapartylibertarians.
So in essence, they are correct in their assessment.

(11,464 posts)she is the single strongest 2016 candidate in either party
If the party gathers round her, and Obama and his fans support her, it will be a surefire win
nothing else matters but winning and quite honestly, I don't see anyone better
(and anyone who knows me, knows she has won me over, as I was NOT a Hillary 2008 supporter whatsoever.
the other candidates are either not as strong nationwide or need to keep their current job(ala Elizabeth Warren should she win), or have some problem or other (Cuomo like his dad, whatever kept him from running is still out there, and Cuomo has a major problem (though denied, but never forgotten by anyone in NYC is how he led his dad's campaign, when his dad ran for Governor one of the times, there was a strong whisper campaign "Elect Cuomo not the homo" and that they cannot be forgiven for (it was unneccesary and it was against Mayor Koch, regardless of whether Cuomo was better than Koch, it was unbecoming a democrat to do that. And there is other baggage for him.
I don't believe Biden is a serious candidate, and Castro in Texas should run for governor because that would be the first step in turning Texas blue again. (and with Texas come other red states).
Cory Booker should run for NJ Governor (again, the governorships are mega important to control the voting laws), and Deval Patrick should be put on the Supreme Court(we can wish).
every other person thought about is just VP material.
But it has to be a woman, time is due, and Hillary is strongest, most qualified and would have Obama's support (based on how Bill is seen in just about every commercial every hour for Obama.)
and hopefully there won't be much of a primary fight, where the repubs will again have a royal battle.

(40,416 posts)Merely reflected onto a fundementalist Christian party. The Bible has numerous passages which predict/portray the persecution of Christians. It is thematic.
Pay no attention to these doom and gloom pronouncements. They are nothing other than Biblical memes. That is why they get away with calling religious freedoms as a war on religion. Same thing, only different.

(8,224 posts)The republicans have been "swinging for the fence" non-stop against this President for 4 years. If it doesn't work, what do they have left?
In the next 4 years ACA will be implemented, the economy will significantly recover, and the demographics will get far worse for repugs. We will probably get to replace a supreme or two as well.
They will change or simply become a permanent whining back bench minority. Much of this is true over time win or lose, but it happens much faster if they lose.

(48 posts)The Republican party will never be dead. IF, and yes that is a big if, we win this election we will only win by a few points. Until there are enough people out there that realize they are voting against their own economic self-interest then the elections will be close.
And lets not forget the house is likely to stay Republican and the Senate will be nearly 50/50. Too many people in this country, especially the white working class, vote Republican simply because of their views on religion, "freedom" (which is ridiculous - don't get me started), and their fear of an ever changing populous, demographically speaking.
I consider the president lucky that when most Republicans who may have ran (John Thune, Mike Huckabee, etc.) decided not to because the economy was creating several hundred thousand jobs a month and they thought our economic situation would be much improved by election day. Mitt Romney is a terrible candidate with no charisma, or charm. We are lucky that he is their nominee.
