If I say "I'm in the tank for Bernie" or "I'm in the tank for Clinton"... what exactly is The Tank?

The shark tank? Is it like that Dukakis tank? What kind of tank am I being asked to get into here?

I appreciate any enlightenment yall can give me.

At least when applied to various organizations and various officials. A different meaning when applied to your average voter.
