Poll: Should Anonymous Be On The 2012 Poll?

http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,2107952_2107953_2109562,00.html

Age: Indeterminate
Occupation: Shadowy, loose-knit cadre of hackers

Anonymous isn't a person. It's not even a group of people in any well-defined sense. But if you tick off the thin-skinned, ad hoc network of hackers who collaborate under the Anonymous moniker, get ready for trouble. Members have reportedly attacked sites ranging from the Vatican's to those of major companies such as PayPal and Sony; they apparently released 75,000 credit-card numbers belonging to customers of research firm Stratfor. Arrests of dozens of suspected participants in multiple countries haven't shut down the leaderless organization.

You mad, bro? We told you we were coming.

I'm not convinced that some of the shit "Anonymous" pulled wasn't actually the work of government entities with three-letter names.

The Night I Saw Elvis
(Really)
(Lyrics ©1979)

It was a hot summer night
around the 4th of July
when I saw something strange
comin' out of the sky

It was glowin' like a Senator
who was takin' a bribe
when it landed on the ground
thought I was about to die.

Out stepped a man,
wearin' his shades
I'd seen him before
in my younger days

His hair all slicked back
gyratin' his pelvis
I said Holy Jumpin' Possums!
it's Elvis!

So I took another pull of that ol' Jimmy Beam -
(just to make sure that it wasn't a dream)

I said a bless my soul what's a wrong with me?
I'm itchin like a man on a fuzzy tree
My dog thinks I'm actin' wild as a bug
And it ain't love...

...I'm all f---ed up.

He jumped and he danced and he shook all around
a rockabilly band was earthquakin' the ground
he sang that one for the money and Heartbreak Hotel
I threw away my jug, then I tripped and I fell.

When they found me the next day.
no one was there
just me and my dog
and a hungover bear.

Now some people say
it was only a dream
and others they say
it was the ol' Jimmy Beam

But there's just one thing
that they can't explain
about what I found
when I woke up in the rain

If it was a dream, or too much booze...

just where in the heck did I get these blue suede shoes?!?

And notice how Elvis/Lives have the exact same letters?

More proof.

For the details you seek...

My limited understanding is that Anon expects there to be a certain number of "grey" hats attracted to their ranks. Most of them are current, former or future online security geeks, after all. It's really more of an organizing method than an organization... Anyone can claim to be Anonymous... Similar to Occupy, it's intended to be difficult to co-opt by persons who disagree with the majority of their supporters.

The only problem with Anon is you'll find it difficult to meet them in real life since Anon's supporters tend to, well, not disclose their support for Anon offline. But at least the premise is that they have far more quiet support than anyone thinks... of course, Anon likes to claim that anypony posting anonymously is a supporter of anon. That might have been true once...

But certainly in the case of Shadenfreude security, Agent Mike just sat back and let them take those calls and e-mails because they were in the process of rolling up the group. The lead guy, who wasn't anonymous at all, was in fact a CI. Str a†for is now being sued by their subscribers because of that, LOL!! Source: ars technica

totally changed the rhetoric of the GOP Clowns and has moved Obama slightly back to the left. Previously the GOP had been attacking the working poor, the disabled, and others that need a safety net(they still do, but the inflamitory language has cooled), now they are on an out and out attack on women, since their favorite group to attack was yanked away. So, the GOP since it has changed tactics is going to lose a large percentage of women voters. Obama, might just salvage his presidency because of this group, which would be great, because if he doesn't we are all bleeeped.

that was for last year, 2011.

The "Person of the Year" designation mentioned in the OP is relative to the year 2012.

I think it would be very nice to keep this honor and recognition in the family.

For a few decades or so.
