I'll give him an A for effort though!

If I sat with my leg tucked under like that for more than a minute, my knee would be screaming.

I just want to thank you for doing this in a way that makes me laugh and pay attention, rather than shut down and turn away. Too often, people talk at me about these issues, rather than too me; as a white, middle-class cis man I am made to feel like an irredeemable enemy, and so disinclined to do or say anything about these important issues. This blog addresses these issues in a direct, yet polite way and it makes me feel like I can be part of a solution, not a permanent problem. Thank you

That reply is a fair reflection of what happens in my brain as well.
Although entirely my own responsibility to work through, I will admit that I tend to lose my shit when I feel that I am being attacked. Probably all humans do to one extent or another.
In calmer moments, I do not feel that what we say is in opposition very often. I have an 18 year old daughter who is very strong, opinionated and with a powerful voice for woman's issues. We talk often and I learn from her.
I hope that I can improve my ability to control my feelings of defensiveness a bit better so that I can find and discuss the things we feel in common rather than focusing on a sense of aggrievement.

somewhere along the way we certainly struck battle mode. personally i think it is the new set up of du that feeds that behavior. but, for me, the reality is, most of the men in mens foruma dn elsewhere on du, i have struck up conversation thru pm, because thoughts have mirrored each other. only to find there is common ground.

you and i think a lot the same in a particular area.

it is getting away from the battle

and it is understanding there are some that want to continue the battle. generally the one the least invested, or not invested at all, from what i see, that is very interesting in the whole sociological aspect of it.

anyway, i did recognize the effort you posting this OP. and i did appreciate it.

thank you...

and thank you... for going beyond
