At its core, objections to feminism in general are caused by ignorance. The degree and style those objections are expressed is both a system (patriarchy) problem and a fear drive knee jerk reaction has quite a bit in common with witch hunts.

If feminism allows itself to be re-defined ("I'm not a feminist but".. Or "I'm not a feminist, I'm a humanist&quot to placate these fears, it's cheered on. Only when it challenges privilege do these modern day Mathew Hopkins' crawl out from their nightmare laden blankets and assert privilege-- the more anonymous they can be, the less fear they have to feel.

I think I was the first recommender. I looked back another time and saw it was quiet. That was very early this morning.

It was like a how-to manual on projection and on identification with the aggressor.

Seriously, a lot of disturbing stuff said in it, but a real window into some thinking processes that I have always found incomprehensible. Especially the thinking processes that make people stand by and let others be mistreated.

I just read that, and you are so right, fascinating. I stay out of GD these days for the most part but damn, the introjection, the mental squirming along with anger subtext was almost palpable.
