Did Richard Cohen just write the worst column ever? (rape, trigger warning)

The bad news: he starts off linking Miley Cyrus and . . . Steubenville.

The worst news . . . oh dear lord where to begin. He engages in Todd Akinism, states that 'only two" perps were involved because only two were convicted in legal proceedings, and that yeah stuff like this is the fault of people like Miley Cyrus and that oh by the way "illegal is sort of beside the point" when talking about what he describes as "rape not involving intercourse."

And, this racist, misogynist, rape-apologist skeezoid gets to call himself a 'liberal columnist.'

Ugh.

with her pedophile apologia ... oh, sorry, hebephile... wouldn't want to be unfair toward anyone who is sexually attracted to children, just not very, very young children. I think it hurts their widdle fee fees or some shit.

Anyway, yeah, there's a fucking huge pool of nominees for worst column ever.

This last paragraph, I just have to mention...

And when it comes to the opinion writers whose pieces are supposed to be reflective of the culture in which we live, they can help set the tone and terms for a debate about how we treat rape and rapists. The recent opinion pieces show that many writers have failed in this regard.

I don't think those writers would agree that they've failed. I think this author makes the mistake of assuming that everyone recognizes rape culture, and wants to change it... and that is most definitely not the case.

My favorite reaction to WaPo:

“@washingtonpost is turning into a pro-rape propaganda rag. I won’t read it anymore. Add it to the list, along with Salon & The Daily Beast.”

...

I don’t care if @washingtonpost publishes never before seen pages from Betty Friedan’d diary, I’m never clicking one of their links again.

Do these shitlords have any idea how much the shit they write actually HURTS? It literally HURTS MY SOUL.
