i.e., something that is consensus-adopted, prior to holding elections. I know Violet_crumble and I intend to help BostonBean draft this and put it out for comment-- as we have the other SOPs.

Sometimes outside life intervenes and I know with BB's recent loss of her father, she is still juggling all her priorities a bit (as are we all), but I know she had some really good ideas for crafting it so as to avoid some of the potential problems of the past, that I think we'd all like to ensure.

But, I think this will be soon. And I absolutely take no offense at the question. I agree with the importance of doing so.

But in the name of the principles we all hold dear that led to the creation of this group (namely, that group members form consensus about the way the group is run rather than host(s) who says "my way or the highway&quot , I think it is important that we do it.

That being said, I understand hlthe2b's comments in reply #1 and that is cool by me. Life is bigger than DU and we all have to prioritize.

Yes, we will have host elections. As hlthe2b has mentioned above, it's been difficult for me to find the time I need to start to string this together.

We need a Host SOP prior.

Each step we have taken has been to ensure that the group has the foundation needed to keep it a safe haven. Also, of late, there has been an inordinate amount of attention focused on our group. And my feelings were that we needed some more time to get our footing. So, there have been a couple of reasons.

I understand the need for this, and there is no delay tactic being employed. We will have a Host SOP and Host elections.

Right now, my son is graduating H.S. I've been a bit pre-occupied with that and many other things in my personal life and haven't been in the right place to begin drafting. Plus a full time job. It will be this way for me for a bit longer. I want to be able to give it my full attention.

I hope you understand.

not happened yet.

This group still has way to much focus from outside forces who show ill will toward our group. I for one am afraid to move quickly because the three founding members are providing much needed guidance and protection for us.

There are some outside forces who seem to be hell bent on taking our group down. I trust these women and their ability to man this ship for us as long as it takes, at least until some kind of truce can be called with those who wish our group harm.

I trust their promise to the group that when the time is right they will hold elections. Personally, I feel by watching what goes on elsewhere around DU this is not the time, in fact I think it is way, way too soon.

I firmly believe the time will eventually come for elections, I just hope it is not soon. I vote "no" to host elections any time soon.

Just my 2 cents.

edit to add: I vote yes to host elections when the time is right.

Way too soon. Way too much focus on this group.

Kinda creepy really, knowing how much more strictly this group is policed.

I agree!!!

Too much focus on this group around other parts of DU, changing things now could cause another uproar. There are too many people hell bent on destroying this group and our membership.

I absolutely trust our hosts right now. I agree that elections can come at another time when the focus is off us.

who will continue to serve us well as long as needed, I'm sure. And I agree that this is not the ideal time to move forward with delineating permanent group leadership. I was just wondering.

I think if someone has a question, others might want to know the answer too.

So, thank you for asking!

Openess and understanding of one another is very important. And sometimes, a questions needs to be asked and answered and a path forward taken.

elections for host. totally forgot about it. but, we were going to do that, werent we, lol.

i havent had enough coffee yet, i am getting there. i generally wait to type until i am there.

i think the period in drawing up the SOP and member rules has been at a good pace, allowing the group to get a strong foundation.

i have enjoyed the way our three host look to protect the forum. always focused on that and they do it with such grace, considering the problems we have outside the forum

this forum has stayed realitively free of drama. that has been wonderful.

i think what this period without any other host has done has allowed the three women to be able to have the ability to cooperatively work together to allow the tone and behavior allowed in this forum. allowing all of us to come to an expectation and a comfort for what we want in the future. it has been able to develop and progress. so the next selection of host will have a well defined example of what this forum is about.

honestly, right now.... i am scared of change.

"closed groups" - ones you can only belong and/or post to if admitted - or something like that. Or maybe that's too harsh. I don't know.

I - for one - DO NOT want it to become like that other situation. However that's accomplished is fine by me. I'm just thankful we were able to start another group with the original intent without the drama and circus act.

I think closed groups is a great idea.

If it were up to me, I would block every single last shit stirring asshole responsible for destroying the other forum. I do not want to see them pollute this place, and don't think they should be given the opportunity to do so.
