Does anybody know what happened to Photobucket? I can't share any pictures now

The graphic is a funky gray speedometer-like thing that tells me to "update my account to enable third party hosting". Well, I updated my account & still no luck. Are they making us pay the $9.99/mo. upgrade now?

I've never been able to get Flikr to work, so this is very frustrating. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

It was notifying me of something. I didn't pay much attention because I don't use it. I opened an account years ago for a one-time use is all.

If you had an account you should've gotten those emails, too. Maybe they went to your spam folder?

There was a thread about it in the photography group, with some suggestions of other hosts:

Photobucket changed their terms of service and they want to extort $400 out of you to be able to post jpeg links to your photos on the web. It's been a disaster for their users.

I had a Photobucket account years ago and quit using it. I am not even sure I could log an any more. That's the trouble with relying on these commercial sites. They can change things on a whim or go out of business and you are screwed.

Even the larger ones can do it. I use Dropbox and you used to be able to put audio files, photos, or documents in the public folder and link them. Earlier this year they changed that and you can't do it from a free account. That broke all the links for anything I had already posted.

Lots of pics always.

When I used tinypic.com there was an upload from my pics on my Documents file and then a download into the body of my text, which I did before I finalized and posted my message.

That all might be passe now. I did the essays from 2014-2016. I advise you to seek that option out and see if it works for you.

Photobucket is charging some unbelievable amount (hundreds of dollars/year) for third party sharing. Greedy bastards. I hope they go bankrupt.
