Is it true that you can't see tweets that are posted here at DU unless you have a Twitter account?

I'm pretty sure I've read comments to that effect, but I don't understand why that would be the case.

I've had a Twitter account for years but never used it much. I just never found it enjoyable. It's too big and impersonal, and writing tiny short posts is just not my style.

Now that You Know Who has taken over, I've seriously thought about deleting my account. But I don't hat means I wouldn't be able to see the tweets people post here, I'm inclined to keep it, at least for now.
That is really the only thing I use Twitter for these days, but it's something I would really miss.

Before I am blocked by a screen requesting sign in.

3. Click the sign up button. Then when the next screen appears, hit the X in

the upper lefthand corner. You can go back to viewing additional tweets.

I don't know why that works. Someone told me about that; I forgot who.

15. If you x out the top left corner indicating you do not want to have twitter, you can continue to

read. Learned this from someone here on DU.

Though sometimes they behave differently as far as viewing and scrolling.

You should be able to see them embedded in posts whether you have a Twitter account or not (or a DU account for that matter).

This is what I would have assumed.

Now I'm wondering why I've seen so many instances of people saying they can't see embedded tweets and asking for text and images from tweets to be posted separately from the embedded version. How odd!

14. Content blockers can do this

If you're running an ad blocker in your browser, it can potentially prevent embedded tweets from displaying -- instead they just appear as a link.

16. Sometimes they take longer to load for me.

Some might click on the thread and see the word Tweet without any image and give up and click back out before it finishes loading.

11. I don't have a twitter account

I still can read the first tweet even on Twitter. But any other tweets that person made on twitter I can't read. But here on DU I can read them all just fine.
