Legal assistance
I’ve vented briefly about this in the past, but this needs to get on the fast track after languishing for over a year now.
I need some legal assistance.
I am living in SC (my roommate in NC worked with my biological family to force me to return to my parents home), and a case has been evolving with a previous violent offender who has brought a harassment charge against me for speaking out about a near-death experience at his hands.
The jurisdiction is conservative, as are his allies, and every time I look for ‘help’ I have been burned, so I’ll make sure to be linguistically clear here and specify I need true assistance and allies, not conservative backstabbers who prefer me to shut up and stay down.
The case has LGBTQ content and past physical endangerment.
My parents and other biological relatives have not sided with me, and the legal assistance they ‘helped’ me find is both seemingly conservative (office resides across from a conservative legislator at any rate) and have not reviewed my material or gotten back to me in weeks.
One parent was in contact with the man’s current partner, and may have known about the now ex-friend/ex-roommate who sent emails out to sabotage the case. My parents also suggested I apologize. The man in question nearly lobotomized me with blows to the head. As a result, I am on disability, needed a gastro resection shortly thereafter due to punches/kicks to the gut (I also have Crohn’s, which he ignored), have reasonable amounts of anxiety about the scenario I have been put into, and have had issues with attention span etc.
At this rate, I believe the intent of these individuals and my previous social circle (no proof they’ve been paid off or what, but they are not acting the same as before) is to try make sure I am charged or uncomfortable as punishment. I was already jailed without a trial or representation, but released on bail only thanks to some of the kind inmates who let me know how the restricted phone worked after my cellphone was taken by the PD (they said I would be able to get it afterwards to make calls as needed, this was not the case).
I want this to be over with, struck from the record if possible, and this man and hopefully the system held accountable. I am 29, haven’t had my first job, was prevented from getting an apartment in NC because of this (and may have to get an SC license despite having everything registered and paid in NC) and have no genuine social contacts besides DU.
I thought my sisters (both previously democrats after having been raised republican) would help, but they have not.
Would the Harriet Hancock center or anyone here be able to point me in the direction of getting this over with?
I am tired of trying kumbaya and being coerced and manipulated by conservative Republicans/hardcore religious zealots who are zombified and their other lot.
I will be forever grateful. Not sure about making SC my permanent home after some of the damage I’ve been dealt here, frankly, but I wish the ‘red’ could be washed away… this place has been unkind to too many for too long.
Luckily, I only have an order to not contact the man in question, as if I would be interested in restoring contact… but no order to keep this off of DU or away from press.
Also, thanks for listening. I enjoy being loud about this after having been placed on a lazy-susan of pain for the past six years.
Oh right, and his friend/partner was/is a lawyer, I was forced to sign a contract for the ownership of everything filmed at his residence. So, if there was any settlement in the past on my behalf, it would not have gone to me. Edit: and that’s assuming the friend/partner also wasn’t forced into things, it isn’t clear based on the evidence
