Slashes in signature. How do I get rid of them?

Hyphens and quotes end up looking like sthis in the signature line. \\\ Like, I\'m. If I delete them, they just reappear. I see others using proper punctuation without a problem. What's the deal?

There is some flakiness going on in the forum software. onehandle Mar 2013 #1
You could try using non-straight quotes: ‘ ’ “ ” Make7 Mar 2013 #2
The remaining problem is that it happens with hyphens as well. Gold Metal Flake Mar 2013 #3
Your hyphen before 'Patton' looks fine to me muriel_volestrangler Mar 2013 #4

That is happening in posts in LBN, if you go back to edit.

I don't think there much you can do to fix this at the moment.

I would cite this in the 'Ask the Administrators' forum.

I just fixed my sig by using the ’ character Make7 suggested. Strange that an even more non-standard character displays fine, while the fairly standard one ( ' ) is causing problems.

... so using those characters within a string often requires them to be escaped somehow or denoted by some numerical code equivalent. Non-standard quotes don't need to be escaped since they have no special meaning in programming syntax.

... if the software is putting back-slashes before a standard keyboard hyphen/minus sign.
