BACKDOOR GUN CONTROL: OBAMA’S ATF PROPOSES AR-15 AMMO BAN

Please forgive me for posting a link to Breitbart. But if you want to know what the gun nuts are upset about you might want to bookmark Breitbart news.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/02/15/backdoor-gun-control-obamas-atf-proposes-ar-15-ammo-ban/

Basically the BATF&E wants to ban armor piercing ammunition and the NRA is really upset about it because it might change the sales of the AR15 rifle and pistol gunz.

The good thing about this article though is that it offers a link to comment on the ban. The comment period ends March 16.

APAComments@atf.gov or via snail mail addressed to: Denise Brown, Mailstop 6N-602, Office of Regulatory Affairs, Enforcement Programs and Services, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, 99 New York Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20226: ATTN: AP Ammo Comments.

FWIW, I at one time owned a pistol that fired armor piercing ammunition. It would penetrate a 5 inch oak tree and from the looks of the splinters at the exit site the bullet was still traveling at 700-800 FPS. Enough to penetrate any soft body armor. There is almost no defense against this ammunition. I have since had the gun destroyed as per BATF requirements.

Please comment at the ATF and support a gun control group of your choice any way you can. Call/write you congress critters, write LTTEs and be heard. It makes a difference.

it is idiot control. Why would ANY civilian need armor piercing ammunition, unless of course it would be to defend against those evil government forces who are hell-bent on destroying the right-wing way of life.

Steel is cheaper than lead. That small amount of steel that designated the round as armor piercing also reduces the price of a box of 100 rounds by $10 to $15.
Most ranges around here do not allow the rounds any-who. So you need to fire them outdoors.

This is NRA gas on the fire. No real story, just fodder for the ignorant.

If you want your AR-15 designated as a pistol, then armor piercing rounds that are fired from your AR can be classified as pistol rounds.
Therefore, green tipped, armor piercing .223 or .556 rounds, fired from your "pistol" may become illegal.
or
Rally to change the classification of your firearm BACK to a rifle and shoot whatever you want through it.

Regular copper-coated lead rounds are not illegal, and still plentiful throughout the country.

I did not see where they showed how the ammo met the definition of "armor piercing", did you see it anywhere?
