I'm the host.

Post on this thread if you would like to be a co-host or if you have some good wording for our group's guidelines.

Why do you want to be a co-host?

What rules would you want or not want.

I don't want a lot of exclusivity, but I think we should follow the rules of DU pretty carefully.

I will need lots of help.

Thanks.

Is it for news outside of the US only?

Is it for news that involves more than one country only?

2. In my view, it will encompass news printed outside the US regardless of the language

as well as news printed in the US in foreign languages.

I view it as also being a place in which DUers who translate articles from foreign sources can place a translated article for easy reference when a question arises about something in the article. So I would not want to see the rule about posting the same article in two different groups enforced here. Sometimes you spend a bit of time translating something and locating it in a foreign source and then can't find the item when you need it.

This would be primarily a place to post article printed in the foreign press regardless of the language.

Welcome.

I doubt you will need another host, but if problems arise, I would be willing to co-host in order to help out.

One hosting issue which may come up is Israel/Palestine conflicts, which can get pretty heated. Hopefully, those conflicts, if they do occur, will stay in their own threads. That way, the jury can handle inappropriate posts.

4. Thanks. Seems to me Israel/Palestine conflict-related posts will still be posted there, but

they could be printed here too as long as they are not hate-mail directed toward either side.

I don't know what I do once someone offers to be a co-host. Do you?

I get so tired of hearing that RT or Press Tv is "bad" and shouldn't be used...esp. at a time when we need a macro view of world events and perspectives.

One of the purposes of this group is to discuss the reliability of different media.

So if you put up an RT show that people don't like, they can also point that out. If you put an RT show that people do like, then they can also discuss that fact.

We do need a macro view of world events and perspectives.

This group is not about posting foreign news that we necessarily like. Posting something here, in my view, does not mean that you agree with every word of it. It is more to get an idea of what the world is saying about a topic.

Our American view may be very different, but we need to know what others think too.
