'This Must Be the Place,' a 2011 comedy-drama film starring Sean Penn and Frances McDormand.

The film is about a middle-aged wealthy rock star living in Ireland who becomes bored in his retirement and takes on the quest of finding his father's tormentor, a Nazi war criminal who is a refugee in the United States.

One of Sean Penn's finest performances, his hair and makeup alone make this film worth watching. The movie is a delight: strange, subtle, beautifully written, very funny, touching, and surprising to the end. Streaming free on Tubi. Highly recommend it.

I read somewhere that Sean Penn’s character was inspired by Robert Smith of The Cure (one of my favorite 80s bands.) He’s well past his glory days but he hasn’t changed his look for 30 years.

And the soundtrack has a lot of songs by David what’s-his-name of The Talking Heads (also a great 80s bands.)
