Once in the original German (with subtitles) and a German friend visiting. Another time in English. Watch the German version if you can. One of the finest anti-war movies.

Along with "All quiet on the Western Front"... War is such a waste..
The only side that wins is the corporate side... Like your Krups coffee grinder?? Big supplier of arms to Nazi Germany. Along with Bayer, Siemens, Opel, VW,BMW, and Mercedes. All got away veritably scot free after the war... A bunch of others including American companies..

Esp. on the big screen.

I was impressed by this review:
Spent 17 years of my life in Royal Navy submarines. 'T' class, 'A' class and 'R' class. Das Boot is the only submarine movie that shows exactly how it was. It could be a documentary.

Submarine movies rely greatly on the actors to deliver stellar performances because the sets are so limited to dark interior shots
