Mom fell and broke her ankle yesterday

My sister was in her half of the house when it happened, but my mother doesn't remember anything and can't tell her what happened.

She called the doctor and took mom to the doc, who sent mom to the hospital for an x-ray. They confirmed that the ankle is broken but ****SENT HER HOME******(?????????) and said they'd call to set up something w/ an orthopedic. The doc called sis and said mom has an appointment for MONDAY (!!!!!!!).

I don't know how we're going to keep her off of it until Monday.

I'm tempted to tell my sister to put mom on the floor and call 911. If she shows up in an ambulance, they'll have to actually treat her.

Poor Dad is overstressed. Mom keeps tring to get up to walk and he has to explain to her that she can't do that, and she doesn't remember anything--just that she's in pain.

MIL fell in late April suffering an eye and brain injury from which she did not recover. It was 5 weeks of difficult times for my Wife's family.

I call it silos. One department does just their work, period. They eventually pass along the information to the next department and they do their work, period. If a third kind of care is needed, it's up to the patient to arrange it. After each pass to another department, the patient is given less information about what they need to do for future arrangements or even who to contact for those arrangements.

Can you tell I've been through this several times?
