Yesterday was my parents' wedding anniversary

69 years.

I had planned to go to my mom's facility and help her get gussied up for my Dad's daily visit. (She often refuses to get dressed.) Alas, I have managed to come down w/ a head cold and I decided that it wasn't a good idea to go to the nursing home and infect everyone. So I didn't make it.

I haven't talked to Dad. I hope Mom was up and dressed when he got there yesterday.

Life just sucks sometimes. Don't beat yourself up. You sound like a loving, caring, daughter.

of responsibility for your parents' care and happiness, and that is very important.
And you feel a little disappointed that you couldn't follow through as you wished.
As a caregiver we know we have to take care of ourselves.

I'm sure Mom and Dad did just fine.
Congratulations to them on 69 years of marriage.
They must be in their late eighties or early nineties.
Wow!

Mom is 85. They married very young.

I don't see my mom as much as I would like, but I cook for Dad and sister 3 times a week.

My folks would’ve been married 69 years this December, but Dad passed away a little over a year ago. They were happy with their 67. Treasure the days!
